J.J.M. Medical College, Davangere was established in the year 1965, affiliated to Mysore University, Mysore and to Kuvempu University, Shankaraghatta, Shimoga District from 1987 and later to Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Karnataka, Bangalore since 1996. The institution with a mandate to work towards developing socially responsible and competent health work force is striving continuously to meet the health needs of the region in a tertiary level responsibility. It is carryingout need based health system research work with an eye to use such strategies to cover the overall community development. Under the able stewardship of Shamanur Shivashankarappa, the BEA in general and J.J.M. Medical College in particular has grown from strength to strength. Under its sphere of activities the academic fraternity, employees, students and community at large have been infused with progressive attitude. The Institution offers undergraduate course leading to MBBS degree and postgraduate degree and diploma courses in various specialities.

• It has a massive infrastructure which is stretched in an area of 25 acres of land. It has one of the finest infrastructure facilities. The main building has two separate blocks Administrative block and the pre-clinical block. It offers all the facilities like board room, lecture theatre, mini auditorium, physiology hall. • The institute has five hostels (two for boys and three for girls) which can accommodate 1100 boys and 770 girls. All the facilities required in a hostel are made available to the students. • The following hospital viz, Chigateri District Hospital, Bapuji Hospital, S.S.General Hospital, Women and Children Hospital and Bapuji Child Health Institute and Research Centre with a total bed strength 2900 are attached to J.J.M.Medical College for teaching and Training of students in clinical subjects. • The institute's library is located on the 3rd and the 4th floor. It has a capacity of 1500 readers at a time. Separate reference areas for faculty, postgraduate and undergraduate students have been provided. Personal book reading sections are made available.
Age:- The candidate should have completed 17 years on or before 31st day of December of the year of admission. Eligibility:- Candidates who opt for takin admission to MBBS course should have passed their two years P.U.C. Examination conducted by the P.U.C. Board, Karnataka State with English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology as Optional subjects. The candidate must have secured not less than 50% marks in optional subjects and English (40% for SC/ ST and Category-I Candidates). Exams:- Candidate should have secured 50% of marks at the competitive entrance test conducted by the competent authorities in Karnataka.
