The Xavier Institute of Communications (XIC), is conducting a course on
Public Speaking and Personality Development.
The course will consist of 8 sessions, starting 1st June, 2009 (Mon, Tue, Wed,
Thur, Fri, Sat, Sun, Mon) (Timings: 6:00p.m. to 8:30p.m.)
The course is highly interactive. It ensures confidence building and stage presence;
how to get focused in thought and language; body language; voice empowerment
and improving inter-personal relationships.
Who may apply ? The course is open to high school and college students,
working professionals, housewives and retired people.
Fees: The course fees Rs. 4,000/-
Content: Development of photography from Film to Digital; Cameras,
lenses and accessories; Basic concepts of Photography; Job opportunities
for photographers today.
Method: Lecture demonstrations, practical workshops, field trip, evaluation.
Duration: 10 sessions, Saturday 6.30p.m. - 8.30p.m.
and, Sunday 10.00a.m. to 12.00noon

Methodology: 2 hours each. The first hour is instructive, the next hour the
students present their shows, ads, news etc.

The Advertising & Marketing course comprises lectures and application-based instruction by industry professionals. It is designed to give a thorough working knowledge of Advertising and Marketing communication and how they inter-relate. The course comprises modules, workshops and online modules.
Eligibility: - Any graduate in Arts, Science, Commerce, BMS (business) or BMM (mass media) with at least 55 percent marks. Non-graduates who have completed five years of full-time work in an advertising agency may be considered. Working candidates are not eligible.
Class Timings: The course is conducted over weekdays - Monday to Saturday - between 10.00 am to 8.30 pm.

This course aims to provide an integrated overview of film and television with emphasis on direction and production. Students will receive a working knowledge of scheduling and budgeting as well. Value additions will be in terms of appreciation of this medium through film screenings, workshops, field trips and guest lecturers.
The course is divided into 13 modules some of which run simultaneously. Its spans two semesters of 38 instructional weeks 620 sessions / 124 credits.
Eligibility: - Any graduate in Arts, Mass Media, Science or Commerce with at least 55 percent marks. Working persons are not eligible. As the course is physically demanding, absenteeism because of ill-health may disqualify a student. It is also recommended that each student make provisions to have access to or purchase an SLR camera of their own for the still photography module. (The Instructor will guide the students accordingly)

The Journalism Course is a full time, post-graduate Advanced Diploma programme, intended as instruction in the role and function of mass media and civil society. It examines the principles, practice and responsibility of communication, the mass media, and the convergence of print, broadcast and net journalism.In the era of New Media, the Journalism Course combines knowledge creation and extension, craft and context, with practical applications in a study programme of proven excellence. Students emerge from the course enabled for multiple tasks and skills in mass communication and social development.
Eligibility:- Anyone who is a graduate in Arts, Science, Mass Media, Commerce with at least 55 percent marks. There is an on-line entrance test followed by an individual interview.
Class timings:- Two to three sessions a day in the forenoon, afternoon and evening. (10/11.00 a.m.-1.00 p.m., 2.00 - 4.00 p.m., 4.00-6.00 p.m. and 6.30 - 8.30 p.m).

The Public Relations and Corporate Communication course is a full-time, post-graduate diploma programme. It is a training discipline for professional knowledge and skills in communication, applied to corporate management, in institutions of government, commerce and Industry non- profit agencies and academia.
Eligibility:- Any graduate in Arts, Science, Commerce, BMS (Management Studies) or BMM with at least 55% marks. Working candidates are not eligible. There is an entrance test followed by an interview and a group discussion. Those with some experience in media or with proven record of writing will be given preference.
Class timings:- The course is conducted over week days - Monday to Saturday (10.00 - 8.30 pm. ), with upto three sessions daily. Workshops / Seminars are usually scheduled for Saturdays. 75% attendance is compulsory in each module.
