ACADEMIC PROJECT ? Control Of Super Heated Steam Temperature System (SHSTS) Using Intelligent Techniques. ? The project is based on MATLAB Simulink programming. ? The team members involved in this project is 3. ? The instruments used for this project computer and MATLAB software version 7. ? In this project, my role is to develop a classical PID controller for the SHSTS system using Ziegler Nichols method. ? The instruments used for this project computer and MATLAB software version 7. ? In thermal power plants the Super Heated Steam (SHS) Temperature must be stable to achieve peak efficiency and reduce corrosion.The controller used for controlling the SHSTS is Propotional Integral and Derivative (PID) Controller and Fuzzy Logic Controller (FLC). ? In Ziegler Nichols method,the given Transfer Function of SHS system is Gp=1.3882/(19s+1)^5.With the use of Ziegler Nichols Table for closed loop tuning for PID controller we can find critical gain Kc, Integral time Ti and Derivative time Td. ? The FLC is a another step in the direction of modeling human decision making. ? Fuzzification is one of the components of FLC as mapping from an observed into space to fuzzy sets in certain inputs universe of discourse. ? The FLC is a rule base system. Defuzzification is the another components of FLC as converting the fuzzy quantity into a crisp quantity. ? The response of the both PID and FLC are compared. ? The response of the SHSTS using PID controller is observed to have a peak overshoot and the system is to have settled in 700 seconds. ? The response of the SHSTS using FLC controller is observed to have a small amount of overshoot and a very fast settling time at about 200 seconds. EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES ?
