Below this i mention the details of information when i was in industrial during the project work for the purpose of obtaining degree. I feeled very happy after entering to BHEL,trichy.my friends were also happy because we obtained do our project.we had surprised about BHEL,trichy. Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited is one of the largest engineering & manufacturing enterprise in india,in the energy related sector.It is a pressure plant with ISO 9002,accrediation certificate by BVQI/london BHEL,trichy established in 1963,has three manufacturing plants today, 1. High Pressure Boiler Plant 2. Seamless Steel Tube Plant 3. Boiler Auxliaries Plant,ranipet Our project title was ‘Conversion Of Walking Beam Furnace Controls from Relay logic to PLC. we have done the project at BHEL,SSTP(trichy). SSTP is nothing but the seamless steel tube plant manufacturing industry. i had surprised about SSTP because it was continuously manufacturing the seamless steel tube by electrical equipment. The whole process performed by engineers,staffs& labours. Mainly seamless steel tubes are used in Boiler pressure plant. If we using other type that is plastic, cast iron type it damage & bend.But using S.S tubes no damage,bend & not seaming. It is very suitable for Boiler pressure plant. I had satisfied when i was during the project because P.JAYACHANDRAN manager/HM elec. and other staffs given more information to us. we had taken keen interest to do our project. whole process controlled by Relay Logic Controller but the drawback is many circuits, contactors, circuit breakers,control equipments get some faults. so the circuit is complicated and fault is not easily corrected. so, we converting the Relay logic controller to Programmable Logic Controller. in this all input&output functions are programmed. so, if any fault means easily find and stop the process and not damage any circuits. SSTP containing the following process. 1.Hot mill process 2.cold mill process 1. Hot mill process Rotary Hearth Furnace Piercing press Bottle pusher and elongator Push bench Reeler Mandrel bar extractor Hot saw Walking beam furnace Stretch reducing mill cooling bed cold straightening Non destructive testing First one square shape raw material is heated in oil furnace.Oil used is LSHS(low super heavy stroke oil).And the temperature maintained in it is 960 degree to 1000 degree celcius. This heat square piece is wholed by the bottle pusher and elongator by variable speed DC motor of 127/KW/11/KV/740 rpm. The length of the tube is move in reeler diameter and length is corrected by mandrel bar extractor. After the seamless tube is placed in walkin beam furnace.whole process is quickly and in heat position. In WBF tubes are placed in order and move one by one.This process continuously run till any heavy fault occur. 2.cold mill process After cutting tubes are placed in 12 hours cold mill for the purpose of not change in length and dimension.
