About Career as Cabin Crew
Cabin crew is a comprehensive term comprising Flight supervisors, Pursuers, Air hostesses and Flight attendants. Their responsibility is to look after the welfare, comfort and safety of passengers traveling in the aircraft. Their main duties are to check passenger’s tickets, assisting them in storing luggage, demonstrate safety measures like fastening seat belt, use of emergency equipment and show exit doors etc. They also check out that sufficient food and beverage, first aid kits and other emergency equipment are on the flight. On the flight they serve meals and drinks. They are trained to deal with emergencies and apply safety drill and help passengers. They also have to tackle special problems like ill health of passengers
Career Prospects of Career as Cabin Crew
Cabin crew have multiple career options. They can seek job opportunities in public sector airlines like Indian Airlines and Air India. However, most of the Cabin crew members preferred private airlines operating on domestic as well as on international routes. Private airlines like Jet Airways, Kingfisher, Spice Jet, IndiGo, Sahara Airlines are the preferred place for cabin crews. With experience they become supervisors and assign and oversee the work of junior cabin crew members. Most airlines allow crew members to opt for other jobs within the airline depending on their suitability for the positions available. Some airlines as a routine assign administrative and other ground duties to senior in flight staff members.
Skills & Education Required for Career as Cabin Crew
To be a Cabin Crew member the minimum education qualification should be 10+2 pass or intermediate or Graduate from a recognized University. The age limit of the candidates should be between 17 and 27 years. Besides, some physical attributes are also required for the course. The minimum height of the aspirants should be157.5 centimeters and weight should be in proportion to height. Most airlines appoint only unmarried candidates. Candidates must have a normal eyesight of 6/6 uncorrected vision in each eye. Fluency in multiple languages may be an added advantage. The applicant should have pleasing personality and clear complexion. There are many short duration training courses for air cabin crew members
