Although no specific qualification is required to be a travel agent, a Degree/Diploma/Certificate courses in travel & tourism can offer leverage to an aspirant. A travel agent is to be well versed in everything from climatic conditions peculiar to that nation/city/region, clothing to be worn to currency exchange rates. A travel agent should have general business skills, sales skills, empathy and the knowledge of a seasoned traveler. A background in geography, communication, world history and computers and foreign languages is an added bonus.
