About B.Ed Course

Here are the details of B.Ed Course including duration, Eligibility, Admission Criteria, Fees and Syllabus.

Eligibility Criteria:-

An M.A. / B. A. Degree of a recognised University in three subjects and an Indian language (or another Language subject in lieu thereof). Applicants should have studied at the degree level the two school subjects for which she is opting.

Compulsory English Language is not usually an adequate qualification for language teaching. Elective or Honours level is preferable.

Applicants holding a degree from a University other than Calcutta must obtain an eligibility certificate / letter from Calcutta University before admission. Applicants from an University other than Calcutta require a Migration Certificate without which admission will not be granted

A quota of Places are reserved for eligible SC/ST and Christian Candidates.

Deputed teachers from recognised schools are also considered.

The Prospectus and Admission Form will be available to those selected for admission after Interview.

Age not more that 35 years.

The Structure of the Course :

Theory Papers   :  600 marks
Practical Papers :  400 marks

Three compulsory papers each divided into two halves 50 marks each

    Paper I    : Foundations and Development of Education in Independent India
                      - Foundations of Education
                      - Development of Education in Independent India.

    Paper II  : Psychology of Learning and Instruction
                     - Psychology of Learning
                     - Psychological Bases of Instruction.

    Paper III : Educational Management
                     - Institutional Management
                     - Management of Manpower Resource.

    Pedagogical Study of School Subjects
    Papers IV & V : Each candidate shall choose two School Subjects from the following for Pedagogical Study :
    English - History - Geography - Economics - Bengali or Hindi

    Paper VI : Compulsory Elective Paper
    Each candidate shall elect any one of the following subject.

    1. Educational Technology
    2. Guidance and Counselling
    3. Education of Children with Special Needs

Practical Papers

    Development of Teaching Skills and Instructional Material [For two Method Papers] : Paper VII, VIII & IX
    Paper VII : Demonstration for Laboratory Practical and / or simulated lesson.
    Paper VIII : Teaching Practical
    Paper IX : Sessional Activities related to Pedagogical Study.
    Paper X : Sessional Activities Related to Teaching and Community Outreach Activities.
 


About the College

Loreto College, founded in Kolkata in 1912, is conducted by the Religious of the Institute of the Blessed Virgin Mary Inspired by a vision of the humam person drawn from the life, teaching and personality of Jesus Christ, and in keeping with the aim of Mary Ward, foundress of the Institute, its prime purpose is the higher education and training of girls from the Catholic Community around Kolkata. It extends its services to members of other communities to the extent possible. It aims to provide an environment which encourages professional excellence, growth in the exercise of responsible freedom and respect for the human personality, and which inculcates values and attitudes which make for social awareness and responsibility. Loreto College Bachelor of Education - BEd Department offers a one-year. post-graduate B.Ed course, affiliated to Calcutta University. The B.Ed. Degree qualifies teachers for secondary and higher secondary school work. The B.Ed. Department was recognized by the NCTE (National Council of Teacher Education) in 1998. In 2003, NAAC (National Assessment & Accreditation Council) awarded the Department a grade of B+
