About B.Sc (Nautical Sciences) Course

Here are the details of B.Sc (Nautical Sciences) Course including duration, Eligibility, Admission Criteria, Fees and Syllabus.

Mode of Entry & Selection :

a) All India Joint Entrance Examination conducted by IIT in Dec/May each year. Advertisement for these examinations usually published in all leading dailies in Jun/Jul each year including Employment News.
b) Performance in J.E.E followed by counselling and medical examination.

Eligibility

a) All unmarried citizens of India.
b) Not more than 20 yrs. of age as on 1st Oct. of the year of entry. (Relaxable by 5 yrs. for SC/ST candidates.
c) Passed 10 + 2 (or equivalent) with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics & English.

Duration:-

1st Semester: 24 th Aug. to 14th Dec. 2nd Semester : 15th Jan. to 31st May

4. No. of seats per course - 90 each per year.

Seat Reservation 15% of the total seats are reserved for SC & 7.5% for ST candidates.

    About the College

    Training Ship Chanakya Located on India's West coast near Mumbai, Training Ship Chanakya is a shore-based academy managed and maintained by the Govt. of India, Ministry of Surface Transport through the Directorate General of Shipping. The three year degree course here culminates in the award of a B.Sc. (Nautical Sciences) degree from the University of Mumbai. It also imparts training for three months Pre-sea course. The cadets who successfully complete training at this institute are eligible for taking up jobs not only on board Indian ships but also on foreign vessels. It is common knowledge that trained Indian Merchant Navy officers are in great demand the world over, for their proficiency, expertise and dedication to their profession. It is noteworthy to mention that the Nautical Training imparted in this institution is of a very high quality and in accordance with the standards and norms laid down by the international bodies like the International Maritime Organisation.

    The minimum eligibility for courses in nautical science and Marine engineering is 10+2 or an equivalent examination with physics, chemistry and mathematics. He should also pass a medical fitness test for sea service under standard norms and with eyesight 6/6 with no color blindness.
    Candidates wishing to enter the navigational and engineering fields of Merchant Navy need to complete a Bachelors degree in Nautical Science or Marine engineering, before they can gain admission to the field.

    Ans : Yes u can COC3 course at IIMS ,Karnataka after 10+2 provides you with the stipend paid on board ship training paying 10000-25000 / month. after which students get placed at salaries ranging from Rs. 1.5- 2 lacs a month. Time period of course is 2 years( approx.) including 12-18 months of stipend paid training.Students of PCM / Commerce with Maths are eligible for one module whereas students of all three streams ARTS/SCIENCE/COMMERCE are eligible for another module . contact yatin26 at gmail 09212333701
