The programme of study at ITME trains Nautical officers in compliance with international competency standards. The courses are conducted and supervised by highly qualified and experienced faculty members who have hard-won expertise in the sector of maritime transport and marine engineering. The study includes Navigation ship, operations, building, maintenance, and repair of marine equipment, shipping companies, offshore oil companies, etc. and exposure to IMO regulations.

Duration of the course:- 3 years ( 6 semesters residential course)

Affiliation:- West Bengal University of Technology (WBUT)

Admission:-
50% through direct admission & 50% through online examination of WBUT. Admission based on merit test. CET conducted by West Bengal University of Technology (WBUT) followed by counselling.
ITME screening test.

Eligibility/ Qualification:-

Maximum age limit of the candidate should not be beyond 25 years at the time of admission.
Candidates must have passed 10+2 or equivalent examination from a recognized Board, with minimum of 60% aggregate marks in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and 50% marks in English in class X or XII standard examination conducted by recognised Board.

Medical Requirements:-

  • Candidate must be in good mental and physical health and free from any illness.
  • Eyesight 6/6 in each eye without visual aids without colour blindness.

Dear Santosh,

The minimum eligibility for courses in nautical science and Marine engineering is 10+2 or an equivalent examination with physics, chemistry and mathematics. He should also pass a medical fitness test for sea service under standard norms and with eyesight 6/6 with no color blindness.
Candidates wishing to enter the navigational and engineering fields of Merchant Navy need to complete a Bachelors degree in Nautical Science or Marine engineering, before they can gain admission to the field.
