About the College

International Council for Management Studies was incepted in the year 1950. The institute is approved by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi.  It is located in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. In 1950, the Department of Commerce of the Andhra University Started the first M.B.A. programme in India. In 1963, Indian Institute of Management, Ahemedabad was set up in collaboration with the Harward Business School. The 1950s and 1960s witnessed the growth of commerce education and 1970 and 1980s witnessed the growth of Management Education in India.
There has been a tremendous growth of management institutes in our society. Every year about 14,000 students pass out of management schools. Keeping in mind the demand, the supply is very meagre.
Management courses have become 'Academic Courses' rather than 'Professional one' . Management Institutes, barring a few exceptions, have reduced to commerce colleges . There is an urgent need to restructure management education to meet new challenges of 21 Century.

Q : i hav just given de 10th CLASS EXAMS AND i m now confused that which stream i choose see i m interested in commerce but my parents want me to do mechanical engineering.I m weak in maths and science subject.they thought that if i m weak in maths then i cant do commerce. we r having our own business so i want to go in business line so plz suggest me for which stream i will choose my mail id is rajbirhunjan@gmail.com and my cell no is 9781987941

Ans : Rajbir, i understand u want to pursue your career in the family business. Hence, commerce is a good option for you followed by a MBA or any management diploma or management distance learning program. U say you r not good in maths and Science then to get the admission criteria in engineering depends on the maths and science scores of 10 +2 , this will become difficult for you. In commerce, Maths and statistics subjects are part of the curriculum but they are not a very high level like in engineering.

Q : Which are the best courses after 12th for commerce stream?

Ans : after 12th ...first of all go for b.com(regular..from a well certified college)......nd side by start doing a good course like CA, CS,ICWA...etc etc...or you can go for computer courses or a beautician course.....commerce has a lot of scope...start consulting your lecturers, attend seminars, participate in co-curricular activities....in this way ur range of knowledge will widen up!... ...nd ya!...b.com is not a very hi-fi degree so after b.com...u can go for...MBA..M.com...nd so many other courses...but if you follow up with b.com along with a CA/CS/ICWA cours...believe me...u r gonna rock it!
