Student Status :
The status of all the candidates admitted to the M. Tech (Research) Programme shall
be classified under any one of the following categories without any financial
assistance.
a) M. Tech (Research) candidates paid by Government / Semi-Government
organizations / QIP.
b) Sponsored candidates.
c) Institute Faculty, Staff & Project Staff of the Institute.
d) Faculty, Staff & Project Staff of the other Institute approved by AICTE /UGC.
e) External candidates from any private / public sector organization or research
laboratory / organization.
Eligibility for Admission:
The eligibility for admission to M. Tech (Research) in Engineering Faculty and
interdisciplinary areas is:
(i) A candidate shall possess B.E or B. Tech Degree and should have passed with
First Class Division.
(ii) The candidate should have minimum working experience of FIVE years after
graduation.
(iii) Selection through oral presentation on the proposed area of research in front of
a committee. The chosen guide should either be part of interview committee or
be invitee member
About the College
Sardar Vallabhbhai National Institute Of Technology, Surat is one of the 17 Regional Engineering Colleges that were established as joint venture of the Government of India and the Government of Gujarat. It was established in June 1961 with facilities to run Bachelor's Degree Programmes in Civil, Electrical and Mechanical Engineering disciplines. It is now changed to National Institute of Technology along with other RECs.
From the academic session 1978-79, the college switched over to the four year Degree programmes. In the year 1983-84, an under Graduate Course in Electronics Engineering had been introduced with an intake of 60 students. From the year 1988-89, two additional courses viz. Production Engineering and Computer Engineering were introduced with the approved intake of 30 students in each. From the year 1995-96 a degree course in Chemical Engineering had been introduced with an intake of 30 students which was later increased to 60 students from the year 1996-97.

The premier institute in Robotics is The Center for Robotics and Mechatronics at IIT (Indian Institute of Technology), Kanpur which offers a Master's Degree Course in Robotics. Other Institutes in India offering courses in Robotics: National Institute of Technology, the University of Hyderabad- M.Tech in Artificial Intelligence and Robotics, Jadavpur University, Kolkata, Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani, Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Learning, Prasanthinilayam, Tamil Nadu- M.Tech, PSG College of Technology, Coimbatore (Tamil Nadu) Mechanical (Robotics as an elective subject).

It all depends upon ur interest. If u r interested in pursuing higher education after your Btech the options are M Tech , MCA, if u r good in programming and want to work in IT sector else do a MBA if u want to pursue a career in Management.. I would advise u to work after ur BE for atleast 2 -3 yrs. and then do a full time or part time MBA.
