Here are the details of Marine Engineers - Alternate Training Scheme Course including duration, Eligibility, Admission Criteria, Fees and Syllabus.
Duation:- 3 Years
Eligibility:-
A pass in +2/Intermediate/PUC/HSC or any equivalent with 60% aggregate in Physics, Chemistry & Maths. 50% separately in English is a must in 10th std. or +2.
Diploma holders OR B.Sc., degree holders are also eligible and they can apply on the basis of their +2 background with 60% aggregate in Physics, Chemistry & Maths and separately 50% in English.
Physical Standards:-
Candidates wishing to join Marine Engineering must be medically and physically fit as per Merchant Shipping.
Age:- 17 to 25 years
Height:_ A minimum of 157 cms
Weight:- A minimum of 50 kgs
Fees:- Rs. 5,50,000/-

The minimum eligibility for courses in nautical science and Marine engineering is 10+2 or an equivalent examination with physics, chemistry and mathematics. He should also pass a medical fitness test for sea service under standard norms and with eyesight 6/6 with no color blindness.
Candidates wishing to enter the navigational and engineering fields of Merchant Navy need to complete a Bachelors degree in Nautical Science or Marine engineering, before they can gain admission to the field.
