The Ph.D. program in the Department can be joined through an All India level Ph.D. admission test (as per UGC guide line) or through an interview (in case of JRF-Fellowship qualified candidates or with a M.Phil degree in Biotechnology). Further, a number of research scholarships/ fellowships on sponsored projects are available to the student during his/her M. Phil. / Ph.D. work. A completed Ph.D. thesis is examined by two external referees and an open viva voce examination is compulsory before a degree can be awarded. The broad areas for Ph.D. studies in the Department are Molecular and Cellular Biology, Genetic Engineering, Protein Biochemistry, Molecular diagnostics, Animal and Plant tissue culture & Biotechnology, Molecular Biophysics, Bioinformatics, and Proteomics.

It all depends upon ur interest. If u r interested in pursuing higher education after your Btech the options are M Tech , MCA, if u r good in programming and want to work in IT sector else do a MBA if u want to pursue a career in Management.. I would advise u to work after ur BE for atleast 2 -3 yrs. and then do a full time or part time MBA.
