About the College

IISER Pune was established in 2006. The IISERs represent a unique initiative in India where teaching and education are totally integrated with state-of-the-art research nurturing both curiosity and creativity in an intellectually vibrant atmosphere of research. Each IISER is an autonomous institution awarding its own Masters and Doctoral degrees.

IISER Pune currently has 360 UG students, 90 PhD students and close to 60 faculty. The institute offers a five-year course leading to a BS-MS degree (after class XII) and a full fledged PhD programme in the basic sciences.

IISER Pune has initiated a 5 years Integrated Masters programme and a post-Masters Ph.D. programme in Integrated Sciences in an intellectually vibrant atmosphere of research. Apart from classroom instruction, IISER builds student skills in areas such as scientific inquiry, problem solving, communication skills, computational sciences, electronics and instrumentation and workshop practices.
