About Pre-sea training for General Purpose Ratings Course
Here are the details of Pre-sea training for General Purpose Ratings Course including duration, Eligibility, Admission Criteria, Fees and Syllabus.
On successful completion of the course the candidate will Coursesbe able to join as ordinary Seaman/GP Ratings in Indian/Foreign shipping companies as a crew with further sea service they will be promoted as Bosun, Able bodied Seman, Oiler etc.
Duration:- 6 Months
Eligibility:- 10th pass & above
Age:- 17 to 25 years
Admission Procedure
1. The candidates who meet the eligibility criteria Admissionfor admission can apply for this course.
2. Candidates desire to join the course will have to apply to GOAMN on the prescribed from,when the advertisement appears in the leading newspapers and magazines.The application form is given in the prospectus.
3. The candidate should submit completed application form along with the following documents:-
1. Date of birth certificate
2. 10th passing certificate
3. Four Recent passport size photographs.
4. Residence proof (Ration card/Passport is applicable)
As the candidate with higher educational qualifications is given preference, Certificates to that effect may also be enclosed.
Original certificates will have to be produced for verification at the time of admission.
4. The completed application form should reach the academy on or before the specified date in the advertisement , through registered post/courier/personally.

Ans : COC3 course at IIMS ,Karnataka after 10+2 provides you with the stipend paid on board ship training paying 20000-25000 / month. after which students get placed at salaries ranging from Rs. 1.5- 2 lacs a month. The minimum eligibility for courses in nautical science and Marine engineering is 10+2 or an equivalent examination with physics, chemistry and mathematics. He should also pass a medical fitness test for sea service under standard norms and with eyesight 6/6 with no color blindness.
Candidates wishing to enter the navigational and engineering fields of Merchant Navy need to complete a Bachelors degree in Nautical Science or Marine engineering, before they can gain admission to the field.

Ans : dear u can undergo GEC course to get converted to marine engineer. The GEC course is for the duration of around 15 months and the entire training is completed in 3 phases as under: Phase 1: 5 months Pre-Sea training at Academy in Bangkok Phase 2: 8 months Sea training on board Ship. (You shall be paid a stipend of around USD 200 – 400 per month depending on the Ship.
