Eligibility:   For Diploma engineers -  Diploma in mechanical / Marine engineering / Electrical / Electrical & Electronics / Naval architecture / Shipbuilding engineering

English Proficiency: The DG Shipping entry standards for the course prescribes that the candidate should have obtained atleast 50% marks in English subject in either 10 th or 12 th standard or Diploma in Engineering course, conducted by a recognized Board or any University .
 
Selection criteria:   Based on written screening test and personal interview, academic credentials, aptitude.
Written test will be conducted individually upon personal appearance on any working day, and result declared at the same time.

MAX AGE: 22 yrs at the commencement of course. For candidates with Diploma in Ship building Max Age: 23 yrs.

Medical: Must be physically fit, certified by registered medical practitioner.  Eye sight: within plus or minus 2.5 and No colour blindness (must produce certificate from an eye specialist, ophthalmologist)

Ans : dear u can undergo GEC course to get converted to marine engineer. The GEC course is for the duration of around 15 months and the entire training is completed in 3 phases as under: Phase 1: 5 months Pre-Sea training at Academy in Bangkok Phase 2: 8 months Sea training on board Ship. (You shall be paid a stipend of around USD 200 – 400 per month depending on the Ship. (The Institute assures 100/% Placements for sea training on board ships which is a pre - requisite to get the job with the Shipping Companies.) Dear Santosh,

The minimum eligibility for courses in nautical science and Marine engineering is 10+2 or an equivalent examination with physics, chemistry and mathematics. He should also pass a medical fitness test for sea service under standard norms and with eyesight 6/6 with no color blindness.
Candidates wishing to enter the navigational and engineering fields of Merchant Navy need to complete a Bachelors degree in Nautical Science or Marine engineering, before they can gain admission to the field.
