Description

The College Of Vocational Studies was established in 1972. It is a maintained institution of Delhi University. It is among the poineer institutions in the country to offer vocational education, bridging gap between traditional university education and the changing socio-economic environment. In addition to vocational courses the college is also offerring an opportunity to the students to study Honours Courses in Commerce, Economics, History, Business Economics and Computer Science.

 

College Of Vocational Studies Courses offered

  • B.A.(Hons.) Business Economic

    B.A.(Honours) Business Economics

    Admission will be made on the basis of common Entrance Test to be conducted by the Deptt. of Business Economics, South Delhi Campus, University of Delhi. The merit list will be prepared giving 50% weightage to Entrance Test and 50% weightage to marks in S.S.C. (XIIth) Examination.

    Admission to the course:
    The candidate must have passed Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (10+2) of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), New Delhi with pass in 4 subjects (English, Mathematics and two Elective Subjects) or an examination recognised as equivalent thereto, with 55% or more marks In the aggregate of these four subjects.

    1. Eligibility Conditions

    a) General Category
    The candidate must have passed Senior Secondary School Certificate (10+2) of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), New Delhi with pass in 4 subjects (English, Mathematics and two elective subjects) or an examination recognized as equivalent thereto, with 55% or more marks in the aggregate fo these four subjects.

    The four subjects considered are all from the academic stream. They are:

    (1) English
    (2) Mathematics or Business Mathematics
    (3) and (4) any two from among the following:

    Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Economics, Political Science, History, Geography, Business Studies, Accountancy, Computer Science, Sociology, Psychology, Philosophy and Biotechnology.

  • B.A.(Hons.) Economics

    Duration:- Three years

    Eligibility:- Pass 10 + 2 in any stream

  • B.A.(Hons.) History

    Duration:- Three years

    Eligibility:- Pass 10 + 2 in any stream

  • B.A.(Vocational Studies)

    The College offers the following Vocational Progammes in B.A. (Vocational Studies).

    Subject:-

    (i) Tourism
    (ii) Office Administration and Secretarial Practice
    (iii) Managent and Marketing of Insurance
    (iv) Small and Medium Enterprises
    (v) Materials Management
    (vi) Human Resourse Management
    (vii) Marketing Management and Retail Business

    Duration:-     three years

    Eligibility:- Pass 10 + 2 in any stream

       


     

  • B.Com.(Hons.)

    Duration:- Three years

    Eligibility:    - Pass 10 + 2 in any stream

  • B.Sc. (Hons.) Computer Science

    Requirement of Subjects studied and Passed

    Mathmatics, One language and two other Subjects listed as Academic Subjects.
     
    Minimum Eligibility Condition For Admission

    The Candidate must have passed Senior School Certificates Examination (XII) with Mathmatics, of the CBSE Board or any other equuivalent examination there to in Arts/Commerce/Science Subjects and should have Secured:
         
    a. 60% or more marks in Mathematics.
    b. 55% or more marks in aggregate of four subjects including mathmatics, one language and two Other subjects listed as academic Subjects by the respective Boards.
         
    Basis of Selection:- The admission would be based on the aggregate of marks scored(Class XII) in the best three academic subjects including Mathematics(not more than one language to be Considered). the Students who have Studied physics, Chemistry and Mathematics in class XII will be given 5% additional weightage in admissions.

  • Post Graduate Diploma in Tourism

    The course of study will cover the following subjects, each carrying 100marks.

    1.Tourism: its anatomy, history,geography,philosophy, and sociology.
    2.Travel Oraganisation: their planning, economics, function and development.
    3.Tourism and Economics.
    4.India: the tourist destination.
    5.Transportaion and Carries.
    6.Accomodation and Catering.
    7.The Travel Agent.
    9.One Foreign Language(French or German). Candidate have to appear in a written examination as well as a viva-voice in foreign language.

    Besides the written examination, in the above papers candidates have to prepare a project report on a selected topic and appear for a viva-voice.The project report and the viva-voice carry 100marks each.
