Coorg Institute of Dental Sciences or (C.I.D.S) was established in 1999 .It is affiliated to the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Bangalore and approved by the Dental Council of India, the Government of Karnataka and the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. The Institute has an educational facility for the teaching of dentistry located in the picturesque hills of Coorg in southern India
The Institute is affiliated to the 230 bed Government Hospital at Virajpet and the 60 bed Rural India Health Project (RIHP) at Ammathi. The Institute is managed by the Coorg Dental and Medical Sciences Trust, a body of professional doctors.
A unique feature of the Coorg Institute of Dental Sciences is the personal attention and care taken by the Trustees. Each member of the Managing Committee is involved in areas of construction, maintenance and care of facilities provided, landscaping and gardening, student welfare and maintenance of hygiene in the food provided to the staff and students. They interact directly with the students once a week and ensure that all their needs are met.
