The students doing the Cinematography Course at Digital Academy-The Film School, are not only given hands-on practical training in film and digital cameras along with extensive lensing and lighting practicals, but are also given a rigorous input in the aesthetics of image making.

The Film Direction course at Digital Academy - The Film School prepares the student in diverse aspects over a relatively short period of time. Classes are held thrice a week, and students are required to watch at least three major films outside classroom hours every week and write their own screenplay.
The emphasis here is on independent study and learning through the writing of and 'original' screenplay and the making of a film. The teacher is thus like a guide-by-the-side rather than a sage-on-the-stage. As part of the learning process, students also need to read recommended texts on Cinema, watch and analyze as many films as they can, from around the world and attend relevant cultural events in the city.
FILM DIRECTION COURSE DURATION: 78 sessions of 3 hours over 6 months, with 40 additional practical sessions of shooting on floors. (Weekend Batches also offered)

Students at Digital Academy are trained to be Editors and not mere machine operators. Through hands-on practical training using FCP and Avid Express DV, they are taught the fundamental and aesthetic principles of editing for film and television.
EDITING COURSE DURATION: 100 Sessions of 3 hrs a day over 6 months. Additional theory classes on Sunday

IN THIS COURSE A STUDENT LEARNS :

3.Cinematography, including lighting, lensing, camera operations & camera movements.
4.Sync Sound Recording on location including complex miking & the use of latest hard disk based multi-track recorders.
5.Editing on non-linear editing systems like Avid & FCP including media management, digitization, basic cut-to cut editing, adding transitions, adding filters, time remapping, final mastering & exporting edited material.
6.Acting, including training in facing the camera, diction & improvisation.
7.Production-Design including theory of set construction, model making & general art direction.
8.Film Production.
FILM MAKING COURSE DURATION: 6 Months,5 days a week,6 hours a day.

The one year Post Graduate Course envisages Cinematography as both an aesthetic and technical course.

Eligibility:-
- Indian students who have passed any graduation course or any course equivalent to graduation* recognized by an Indian University.
- Any International student holding a valid passport from any country who has completed a graduation course in any subject, recognized by any international university (provisional Admission may be given upon payment of full course fee prior to Visa Approval).The final admission is conditional upon issuance of valid visa by Indian Authorities.
- Any Indian or International student who has appeared for the final exam of a graduation course or a course equivalent to graduation, and whose results are to be declared within 1 month of the commencement date of our courses. In such cases, provisional admission will be given conditional upon the submission of requisite mark sheets and certificates confirming the students bonafide. In case the student fails the said examinations, his/her admission will be revoked and his/her fees will be refunded as per Refund rules.
- Students are expected to have a working knowledge of English language and have a basic knowledge in the use of computers.

The one year Post Graduate Course in Film and Television Editing recognizes the activity of Film Editing as being the final act of film writing. In that sense, the course is designed to encourage editing students to think of themselves more as auteurs, stylists and designers than simply as cutters.
In Editing Aesthetic theory, inputs are provided in subjects such as Visual literacy, colour theory, use of graphics, Shot nomenclature, lensing stylistics, narrative structure, dramatology, management of dramatic tension, understanding Rhythm and the relationship between ideology and style. Both theoretical and practical inputs are given in subjects such as
Physical relational and directional continuity
Dialogue sequences
Action sequences
Montage Sequences
Comedy sequences
Non fiction films
Ad films, Corporate films, AV's and infomercials.

The one year Post Graduate Diploma Course in Film and Television Direction is designed to develop three qualities necessary for successful Film Directors. The three qualities are –
The ability to understand subjects intellectually and contextually with a high degree of eclectic philosophical abstraction.
The ability to convert themes into ideas and ideas into cinematic forms through the creative use of the Cinematic language and idiom.
The ability to work with technical collaborators at all levels and provide them with the necessary guidance as a team leader.

SCRIPT WRITING COURSE DURATION: 6 months, 52 sessions; 2 classes of three hours a week.

A Sound Engineer is a person who understands the importance of the sound track, which works in conjunction with the visual image. Sound and picture share a symbiotic relationship and the result is pure magic-The magic of Cinema.
Having established the importance of sound in our life, a student attending this course will learn both the technical and creative aspects of the recording process. Students practice on state-of-the-art equipment used in professional studios and upon completion will be able to successfully work in any avenue of the sound recording industry.
SOUND RECORDING & ENGINEERING COURSE DURATION
130 Sessions of 3 hours each, over 10 months:
4.5 months of theory and 5.5 months of practical.
