Description

Farook Training College, established in 1961 by Rauzathul Uloom Association, is the first teacher training college managed by Muslim Minority in the state to promote the cause of education in Malabar, to provide quality teacher education to all classes of people, to attract and encourage talented students towards teaching profession, especially from among financially and educationally backward Muslim minority students and the other marginalized sections of the society. The College was initially affiliated to the University of Kerala and later it was affiliated to University of Calicut in 1968. At present the college is providing courses in education at graduate and post g0raduate level at B.Ed level, it provide 7 optional subjects viz., Mathematics, Physical Science, natural science, Social Studies, English, Malayalam and Commerce. M.Ed course which was started at 1995 provides two electives viz., Educational technology, Guidance and counseling. IGNOU has identified this college as a programme centre for B.Ed Course. All the courses offered are recognized by National Council for teacher Education.

  • B.Ed- Regular (Self Finance) Commerce

    Duration:- 1 Years
     
    Eligibility for Admission:-

    M.Com with not less than 50 percent marks is the eligibility for Commerce B.Ed admission

    Intake:- 30

  • Bachelor of Education (B.Ed)- Regular (Aided)

    Subjects:-

    Mathematics, Physical Science, Natural Science, Social Science, English, Malayalam

    Duration:- 1 Years

     Eligibility for Admission:-

     i)      As per NCTE rules, candidates should secure aggregate 45% marks for getting admission (ie, marks of Part I, II and III put together).  Besides, minimum marks prescribed by University for admission to B.Ed course is 45% in part III main and subsidiary put together.  However candidates belonging to SC/ST/Natives of Lakshadweep needs secure only a pass in the degree examination.  The candidates belonging to OBC will be given relaxation of 3% marks and the candidate belonging to other eligible community will be given a relaxation of 5% of marks from the prescribed minimum.

    ii)      The main subject in which the candidate passed the degree should be selected as the optional subject for the B.Ed course.

    iii)     Admission will be made subject to the approval of the intake of students by the NCTE and University of calicut.  Commerce graduates are not eligible  for admission

    iv)     Graduate in History, Islamic History, Geography Economics, Political Science, Sociology, Psychology and Philosophy will be admitted to group with social studies as optional subject

    v)      Graduates in Statistics with Mathematics as subsidiary subject and B.Sc applied Statistics are eligible for admission to B.Ed  course with Mathematics as optional subject

    vi)     Graduates in Home Science and Geology with Physics / Chemistry as subsidiary subjects and B.Sc Polymer Chemistry and B.Sc Industrial Chemistry are eligible for admission to B.Ed course with Physical Science as Optional Subject

    vii)   Graduates in Home Science with Zoology /Botany / Life Science as subsidiary subject and B.Sc Bio Chemistry.  B.Sc Plant Science and B.Sc Aqua Culture with Bio – Chemistry and Zoology as subsidiaries are eligible for admission to B.Ed course with Natural Science as optional subject

    viii)  Graduates in English Literature and B.A Functional English are eligible for admission with English as Optional Subject.
     

  • Master of Education (M.Ed)-Regular (Aided)

    Duration:- 1 Years
     
    Eligibility for Admission:-

    i)   The minimum qualification for admission to M.Ed course is B.Ed degree of one of the University in Kerala or any other universities recognized by the Calicut University as equivalent there to with 55% marks for forward communities and 50% of candidates belonging OBCs and OECs.  No mark restriction for students belonging to SC/STs.

    ii)   Admission to the M.Ed course is irrespective of the optional subject selected at B.Ed level.

    Selection of Education (M.Ed)

    As per the norms of NCTE, State Government and Calicut University.
