Description

Gujarat Ayurved University was established in 1967 by an act passed by Gujarat State legislative Assembly in 1965. It is the first statutory University of its Kind both at national and international level - exclusively devoted to Ayurvedic studies and Research. This University is administratively linked to Ministry of Health and Family Welfare both at State and Centre-indicating its special status.

Gujarat Ayurved University is an academic and institution of higher learning established in 1967 by an Act of Gujarat State Assembly. This university is an autonomous organization fully financed by Govt.of Gujarat State. University looks after the management of the Institutes and Colleges situated in the campus along with conducting the examination of all the degree/diplomas awarded by the University. This University has three wings.

Gujarat Ayurved University Courses offered

  • B.A.M.S.

    B.A.M.S. preparing graduates of profound scholarship in the science of Ayurveda having basic and fundamental knowledge in different subjects of Ayurveda backed up by extensive practical training. He should become an efficient teacher, a research scholar and a competent Ayurvedic physician (Kayachikitsaka) and surgeon (Shalyachikitsaka) to be able to contribute his mite in the medical and health services of the Country.

    Duration::- 5½ years ( Including one year internship)

    Eligibility:-   

    Must have passed higher secondary school certificate examination after 12 years of schooling with physics, chemistry and biology subjects. Knowledge of Sanskrit is essential for the admission in Gujarati medium regular course.
    Any other equivalent course recognized by the Government and State education Board.

    Qualifying age:- Must have completed 17 years as on 31st December of year of admission to the main course.

    Medium of Instruction:    

    a) Gujarati. b) English for Foreign Nationals.

    No. of Seats:- 35/10 (10 for foreign nationals)

    Admission criteria:    

    a) Admission to 8 different U.G. affiliated Colleges is monitored centrally by Govt. of Gujarat through a central admission committee on the basis of merit at the qualifying examination each year in June - July.

    b) Admission to Foreign National/NRI candidates is granted by University directly only at its constituent College Gulab Kunverba Ayurveda Mahavidyalaya Jamnagar.

    Academic year:- July to June.

    Fees:- For Indian Nationals as per Government rules.

    For Foreign Nationals course fee US$ 4500per annum, Registration Fee US $100.

  • M.D (Ayurveda)

    Duration:    

    Three years
        
    a) First year - general orientation in different subjects.
         b) Second & Third year - specialization studies and dissertation.

    Eligibility:- Graduation in Ayurveda from the recognized University.

    Qualifying age:- Not recommended.

    Medium of Instruction:- Hindi/English/Sanskrit

    No. of Seats:    

    a) 41 stipendiary
    b) 09 non-stipendiary

    Admission Criteria:    

    a) Joint Entrance Test will be conducted for NIA- Jaipur, IPGT&RA- Jamnagar & Govt. Akhandanand Ayurved College, Ahmedabad
    b) Admission to affiliated P.G. Centers will be governed centrally by the University

    Academic year:- July to June.

    Fees: -   

    a) No Fees for Indian Nationals. Government of India provides stipend to the admitted scholars of 6 (a) category for three years.
    b) For foreign nationals as per rules.

  • Ph.D (Ayurveda)

    Ph.D (Ayurveda) provide opportunity to deserving and research oriented scholars of Ayurveda to develope their research skills and carry out independent research through exposure to intensive research programmes in any of the 15 specialties.

    Duration:- Minimum 2 years.

    Eligibility:- M.D. (Ayu). Or equivalent postgraduate from recognized University in the concerned subject/specialty.

    Qualifying age:- Not recommended.

    Medium of Instruction:- Hindi/English/Sanskrit

    No. of Seats:- Depending on vacancy with the concerned supervisor/guide. 20 stipendiary seats are available.

    Admission Criteria:- Outstanding academic record and personal interview

    Academic year:-Enrolment will be made twice in a year

      i) October term and
      ii) March term.


    Fees: -Rs. 4000/- per term plus registration and other charges as applicable.
