Description

Indian Institute of Ecology and Environment, New Delhi is an autonomous, non profit making institution constituted as a public charitable trust for teaching, research and consultancy in the areas of ecology and environment. The Institute has the appropriate technology for the transfer of knowledge in the areas of ecology and environment in general and environmental engineering, impact assessment, pollution monitoring and control, systems analysis, wildlife conservation, environmental communication, ecological education and environmental laws in particular. The motivation for bringing awareness especially among the educational organisations has been based on the issues of environmental education discussed in the deliberations at Founes in 1971 and later at Stockholm in 1972 followed by the workshop on Environmental Education at Belgrade in 1975 and then an Inter Governmental Conference on the subject at Tbilisi in 1977 organised by United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and UNESCO. The former resulted in  what is known as the Belgrade Charter and from the latter issued specific recommendations on the role of Universities in the propagation of environmental education. Since its inception on 5th June 1986 and inauguration of the Post Graduate Diploma Programme in Ecology and Environment, the Institute has brought out more than 3000 research reports, occasional monographs, case books besides the 30 volume International Encyclopaedia of Ecology and Environment, 10 volume Encyclopaedia of Environmental Sciences and 10 volume Encyclopaedia of Environmental Laws. The Institute's Post Graduate Diploma Programme in Ecology and Environment is recognised by many Indian as well as Foreign Universities as equivalent to their Master's Degree through the Memorandum of Understading (MoU) signed between IIEE and respective Universities. The main idea behind the unique programmes of the Institute is creation of environment friendly and sustainable jobs by vocationalising the environmental careers and tackling the problems of unemployment and pollution for having a sustainable society before entering the twentyfirst century.

Indian Institute of Ecology and Environment (IIEE) Courses offered

  • M.Phil

    The one year Distance Learning M.Phil Degree conducted in association with The Global Open University, Nagaland has been designed for enabling the Master’s Degree holders to acquire expert knowledge of research methodology and other advanced topics for being prepared to get registered in the Ph.D. Degree in the relevant Faculties.

    Duration : One year

    Eligibility : Master’s Degree in the relevant subject.

    Award : Master of Philosophy (M.Phil.) Degree with specialisation in the relevant subject shall be awarded to all the successful candidates by The Global Open University, Nagaland.

    Teaching Methodology : The Spot Admission and Central Despatch Unit will accord admission to the students and provide identity cards and lessons besides guidance and counselling on a continuing basis.

    Medium of Instruction     : The lessons are in English. However examinees can answer the questions and prepare the M.Phil. Thesis either in English or in Hindi. Study materials in Hindi are available by paying Rs. 1500 extra.

    Tuition and Other Fee : The total fee for the one year distance learning M.Phil. Degree is Rs. 13,525 payable in three instalments. The first instalment of Rs. 4,525 is payable at the time of admission. The remaining two instalments of Rs. 4,500 are payable after four months and after eight months. The details of fee to be paid by the participants are as follows :

  • M.Sc ( Ecotourism)

    The Two Years Master of Science Degree in Ecotourism being conducted under distance learning has been designed for preparing a competent cadre of Experts in Ecotourism and for meeting the demand of the growing needs of trained manpower in the fields of Ecotourism, Sustainable Tourism, Wildlife Tourism, Eco Event Management, Adventure Tourism, GIS related to Ecotourism, Tourism Economics etc.

    Eligibility : Graduates of any discipline (Arts / Commerce / Science / Engg. / Medicine / Agriculture / Law etc).

    Duration :     Two years

    Award : Two Years Master of Science (M.Sc.) Degree with specialisation in Eco-Tourism shall be awarded to all the successful candidates by Sikkim Manipal University of Health, Medical and Technological Sciences, Gangtok.

    Teaching Methodology : The Learning Centre of the University at New Delhi will receive the completed applications and the fee from the students and provide all facilities including counselling, lessons, guidance, assignment sheets etc.

  • M.Sc (Disaster Mitigation)

    The two years Distance Learning Master of Science (M.Sc.) Degree in Disaster Mitigation being conducted by the Sikkim Manipal University of Health, Medical and Technological Sciences from the University's Learning Centre at the Indian Institute of Ecology and Environment, New Delhi has been designed for meeting the demand of the growing needs of experts in the fields of Disaster Mitigation, Hydrological, Coastal, Marine, Atmospheric, Geological, Technical, Forests, Wind and Water Driven Disasters for mitigating the effects of earthquakes, floods, droughts, cyclonic storms, landslides, avalanches etc.

    Eligibility : Graduates of any discipline (Arts / Commerce / Science / Engg. / Medicine / Agriculture / Law etc).

    Duration : Two years.

     The two years Distance Learning Master of Science (M.Sc.) Degree in Total Quality Management being conducted by the Sikkim Manipal University of Health, Medical and Technological Sciences (SMU) from the University's Learning Centre at the Indian Institute of Ecology and Environment, New Delhi has been designed for meeting the demand of the growing needs of experts in the fields of quality policy planning, auditing, certification, inspection and TQM in banking and financial services, hospital and medical services, hospitality and tourism industry, manufacturing and services sector, printing, publications, graphic technology, documentation and information, automotive components and computer based quality methodology and systems.

Ecology and environment in 2004 from smu & M phil in Environmental studies in 2009 from The Global Open University, A-15, Paryavaran Complex, Saket-IGNOU Road, New Delhi-110030,..but sorry to say I haven't received a single call for job and neither there are any advertisements for people of this stream.
