Institute of Chemical Technology was established in 1933 and it is affiliated to University of Mumbai. The Institute is approved by All India council for Technical Educaion (AICTE). It was known earlier as UDCT is the most outstanding Institute of the University of Mumbai. This prestigious institute is a jewel in the crown of the University of Mumbai. It is spread over 16 acres having lush green garden which are a matter of pride and have bagged several prizes at the City level. The Institute postgraduate education has been rated as the best in the country including all the branches of engineering and technology and as comparable to the best anywhere in the world. It was selected as a Lead Institution under the Technical Education Quality Improvement Programme (TEQIP) of the Govt. of India. The Institute believes that the students should have a well-rounded personality and to facilitate this, the college conducts various programmes in addition to the teaching learning process, such as Personality Development Programme, Entrepreneur Development programme, Business Communication, Faculty Development Programmes, Career Oriented Programmes etc. The MUICT has the faculty strength of 63 including 25 professors, 11 readers and 27 lecturers who are supported by about 242 non-teaching staff including administrative and laboratory assistants. A variety of teaching and learning techniques are employed to impart knowledge and skills to students at Institute of Chemical Technology in its various departments. The Institute provides good infrastructure facilities such as Library, Canteen, Auditoirum, Laboratories, Sports, Transport, Hostel accomodation.
