International Institute of Maritime Studies - IIMS was born of a dream of visionaries in the maritime field. International Institute of Maritime Studies (IIMS) at present offers STCW95 COURSES, OFFSHORE SAFETY COURSES, CERTIFICATE OF COMPETENCY AND VALUE ADDED COURSE.
 

International Institute of Maritime Studies - IIMS Courses offered

  • Elementary First Aid Course

    Scope:-

    Compliance with the training requirement for Elementary First Aid as specified under A-VI/1-3 of STCW 95.

    Objective:-

    To educate the seafarer on the following :
    To provide immediate basic medical care at scene of accident or other medical emergency until the arrival of a person with first aid skill or the person in charge of medical care on board the ship.

    Duration: 12hrs. , 2 days .

    Contents:-

        General Principles
        Body Structure and functions
        Positioning of casualty
        The Unconscious Casualty
        Resuscitation
        Bleeding
        Management of Shock
        Burns, Scalds and Accidents caused by Electricity
        Rescue and transport of Casualty

  • Helicopter Landing officer(HLO)

    Scope:-

    Trainees who successfully complete this course shall be able to Control the response to offshore helideck emergencies and routine operations.

    Objective:-

    Duration : 2 days.

    Contents:-

        Maintain a state of readiness
        Supervise helicopter landing and departure
        Supervise cargo handling
        Supervise the refuelling of the helicopter
        Control the response to emergencies
     

  • Medical First Aid Course

    Scope:-

    Compliance with the training requirement for Proficiency in Medical First Aid as specified under A-VI/ 4-1 of Code A of the STCW 95.

    Objective:-

    On completion of this course the trainee will have a knowledgeand skill of first aid sufficient to takeimmediate effective action in the case of accident or illness, likely to occur on board ship until the arrival of the person who discharge of medical care.

    Duration: 4days.(28 hrs.)

    Contents:-

        General Principles
        Body Structure and functions
        Casualty
        Toxicological Hazards aboard ships
        Examination of Patient
        Spinal injuries
        Fracture, dislocations and muscular injuries
        Burns, Scalds and Accidents caused by Electricity and effects of heat and cold
        Medical care of rescued persons including distress, hypothermia, cold exposure
        Radio medical advice
        Pharmacology
        Sterilization
        Cardiac arrest drowning and Asphyxia
     

  • Personal Safety & Social Responsibilities (PSSR)

    Scope:-

    Compliance with the training requirement for Personal safety & Social Responsibility as specified under A-VI / 1-4 of STCW 95.

    Objective:-

    On completion of this course the trainee should be able to identify potential areas of emergencies that may arise in the marine environment , whereby he can take effective steps to observe ‘Safe working Practice ‘ , to eliminate personal injuries and accidents. It will also help the Trainee to create a conducive atmosphere designed to boost high-spirited humane/ social relationship amongst shipmates.

    Contents (18 hrs)

    Emergency Procedures on Board :

        Pollution Prevention.
        Safety Philosophy and Safe Working Practices.
        Safety Thinking and Accident Prevention On Board.
        Communication on Board.
        Interpersonal Relationships.
        Social Responsibilities.

  • Radar Observer Course

    Scope:-

    Compliance with the training requirement for Oil Tanker Familiarization as specified under Paragraph 1.2 of regulation A-V/1 shall cover at least the syllabus in paragraph 2 to 7

    Objective:-

    To educate the seafarer on the following :
    Basic safety and pollution prevention precautions and procedures, layout of different types of Oil Tankers, types of cargo, their hazards and their Handling equipment, general operational and Sequence and oil tanker terminology.

    Duration: (30 hrs)5 days

    Contents:-

        Oil Tanker Introduction
        Petroleum Properties and Hazards
        Oil Cargo Containment and Handling
        Oil Tanker Operations
        Marine Pollution
        Safety
