Description

Why ISCOM?

DIFFERENTIATORS

We are happy to report excellent placements for PGPCS batch – III which passed out in June 2009. We have achieved over 85% placements with a range of 1.8 to 7.2 lacs p.a. with one student being placed with a Dubai Co. We have achieved this despite the recession and well above the average of around 50% for other Management Institutes in Pune.

PRISM batch- III is in the process of being placed and we are confident that we would achieve similar results with the batch too.

ISCOM, clearly, has its priorities right. We believe, our differentials, which I list below for your reference, are sound and a testimony to our performance.

a)    Choice of 10 sought-after subjects for dual specialization.

          b)    Top-of-the-line Faculty for programme delivery.

c)     Sustained Personality Development and Softskills training.

d)    Regular Industry Visits and case studies.

e)    Emphasis on English language training. Lately, a compulsory
Cambridge English certification programme for all students have been
        introduced.

f)     All-India tie-up with Bank of Baroda for education loans for our courses.

g)   Uniform/Laptop/Wi-Fi Connection & International Study Tour as part  of our management programmes.

h)     Training in a Foreign Language as part of the Course Curriculum for PGPCS.

i)    Participation in various social activities like Blood Donation Camps, etc for a well rounded personality of our students.

j)      Excellent industry linkages of Director and Faculty.

k)    Assured placement for PRISM and dedicated placement assistance for PGPCS.

  • Every PGPCS student gets a free laptop
  • Foreign study tour for PGPCS - to get first hand exposé to International Business
  • Dual Specialization - Major and Minor
  • Concept of course heads for specialization wherein the faculty enounces total delivery of the course : Every specialization has a course head who's responsibility it is to ensure total delivery of the course, he/she has the option to introduce a new faculty if essential, to monitor the completion of syllabus in due time by the faculty, keeping track of the syllabus, ensuring reference books indicated by the faculty are available in the library for the students.
  • Mentor and Buddy systems : Groups of students are associated with a Mentor who is a faculty. The mentor constantly reviews the students' performance guiding them and advising them on curricular and personal developmental aspects. In the Buddy system a senior student is attached to a junior who helps his buddy (junior) to do the assigned projects, class work etc. efficiently and correctly.
  • Substantial time spent on personal Development of students : Personal development of students is an essential part of the training at the Institute. This involves complete training of students in his day to day life so that he is fully prepared to face up to the demands of his future professional as well as personal life.
  • Counseling every day with one student by the Director himself : The Director himself counsels individually each student where in an open discussion is held between the two. Thiese interactions are aimed at improvement in all aspects of life at the Institute.
  • Finer aspects of Soft Skills development : The Director lunches with 3 students wherein the finer points of table manners and etiquette are explained. Plus detailed soft skill classes are held by the Director.
  • Industrial visits : The whole batch is sent for industrial visits to corporates in and around Pune, so as to make the students familiar with the functioning of Corporates
  • Tie ups with corporates for continuous assignment on line : We have arranged to attach students with number of corporates as interns to undertake projects assigned by executives. These are mostly done on line and after classes. This is a continuous process and if a student leaves after the course, the next student takes on the assignment from the point it was left by his predecessor. Needless to say this experience exposes the students to corporate culture and work ethics.

    New Courses

ISCOM has signed an MOU with Elmwood College, Scotland (UK) for a new and exclusive course in Golf Management. In this students will earn multiple certifications from Elmwood and the Royal & Ancient Golf Club of St Andrews. Similarly a course in Air Transport Management is also in process. These specializations, however, are planned to be introduced in the July 2010 batch.

  • Programme in Information Security Management

    Information Security :

In today's information age and the highly competitive business environment, Information Security is a very critical factor. Organizations treat information as the most significant asset and ensure that this asset is protected from being leaked, crashed, hacked, copied or destroyed. The dynamic vulnerabilities associated with conducting business online is today a huge challenge to law enforcement authorities all over the world. Surveys of computer crimes and security lapses demonstrate the seriousness and complexity of Information Security. Figures reveal the extent of misuse of information and how important. It is for organizations to safeguard themselves against internal and external threats. With new threats surfacing almost every day, protecting one's network and critical information assets has become a continuous challenge. All over the world, Governments and Corporations have increased their spending on information security over the years and are looking for people who can administer the systems safely and securely. Recent research studies indicate that the need for information security professionals will increase manifold in the coming years. Job opportunities thus exist not only in IT and IT-enabled service businesses, but covers a wide spectrum of industries such as financial institutions, insurance companies, banks, research institutions, media and entertainment organizations, government as well as enforcement agencies. However, this is not matched by a corresponding supply of skilled IS professionals. Industry observers point out that the demand for IS professionals has made security as one of the most sought after and best-paid careers. This programme initiated by MIEL and ISCOM is a positive step towards fulfilling the requirement of this industry.

    Demand for Information Security
    :

The need for IS professionals will exponentially increase in the coming years, as more overseas companies look to India to cater to their information processing needs. Unfortunately, this is not matched by a corresponding supply of skilled IS professionals. A recent NASSCOM report says that less than 10,000 professionals have a working knowledge of IS. At this rate there will be an expected shortfall of over 100,000 IS professionals globally, by the year 2008. There will be an expected shortfall of about 25,000-50,000 IS professionals in the US alone over the next few years. In India, less than 2,500 professionals have specific IS skills, which represents a minuscule 0.5 percent of the IT workforce.
