Description

 Jadavpur University is a State University in the state of West Bengal. Its parent institution was set up by the National Council of Education, Bengal, in 1906. After India's independence, the institution was converted to a University under the First Jadavpur University Act in 1955.  Jadavpur University has been declared a University with Potential for Excellence by the University Grants Commission. The University has also been accredited with the status of 'five star' by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council.

The University also has its Engineering Faculty, which has long been known for its excellence in training,  innovative and research programmes.

The most amazing feature about the University; it is located in Kolkata, renowned for its cultural and intellectual heritage.The City had been the capital of British India for a long time, and has been a major centre of the Indian struggle for independence.

Infrastructure

•    The institute has well maintained infrastructure located in one of the metropolitan cities of the country i.e. Kolkata.

•    The central library of the institute has a collection of more than 550000 volumes of books and other materials for the latest updates of the society.

•    Despite of having 13 hostels the institute is not able to meet the demand of the hostels. It has separate hostels for both boys and girls with all the basic facilities provided.

•    Hostel Mess is conducted by the Students Mess Committee under the guidance of the Superintendent of the respective hostel. The Main Hostel complex is situated outside the campus.

•    The institute campus is housed with six canteens which provide delicious food and snacks at affordable prices. The students find good time in the canteen gossiping with their pals.

•    The University Health Centre is located in the campus within easy reach of all the students. It is attended by a full time Medical Superintendent and part time qualified Specialists in General Medicine, Eye, E.N.T., Skin Dental and Pathology and a qualified part time Lady Doctor.

  • guys....admission to jdavpur university is only reserved under domicile quota...only students of west bengal(wh r living here fr more than 10 yrs) qualifying frm wbjee are eligible...no aieee or iit or whatever exam rank will do...if u want to get a descent engg stream u will hav 2 rank within 1000 in general wbjee rank list !
