2007 was a year of recognition and jubilation for the Mahima Shiksha Samiti and the Seedling Group of Institutions, Jaipur, as the cherished goal for establishing Jaipur National University, Jaipur, was realized. All the properties and assets of the Mahima Shiksha Samiti and the Institutions of higher education of the Seedling Group were merged with the University. Not only is Jaipur National University the first of its kind in Jaipur and the whole of Rajasthan, it is also a forerunner and premier temple of learning, introducing various integrated and interdisciplinary programmes of study and research in the country.
Though Jaipur National University is committed to promote employment savvy professional education, it has also created ample space for the study of Social Sciences, Languages, Literature, Commerce, Science, etc. Thus, in a true sense, Jaipur National University aims to serve holistically to those who wish to pursue studies in different domains of knowledge.
The University is located on the foothills of the Aravalis on approximately 50 acres of land at Jagatpura, Jaipur. It has well-developed campuses having world-class infrastructure, including classrooms, seminar halls, laboratories, library, hostels, playgrounds, round the clock internet facility, etc.
At present, fourteen Schools and various departments in the Schools organize teaching and research under the supervision and guidance of their respective Directors and Heads of the Departments. The University carries out teaching and evaluation in all the Schools through semester system and ongoing assessment. A great deal of emphasis is put on understanding and articulation (both written and oral) by way of mid-semester tests, tutorial assignments, term-papers, presentations, and development of soft-skills, etc.
The University has devised remedial courses, advisory system, and effective teacher-student interaction, with a view to upgrade skills of the needy students. Scholarships have been instituted for both needy and meritorious students. Thus, the Jaipur National University strives for high quality of teaching, relevant and innovative research, and for fulfillment of its social responsibilities.
All the students who were admitted to the institutes of higher education of the Seedling Group in the Sessions 2007-08 and 2008-09 are now students of Jaipur National University. The students enrolled in 2006-07 and earlier, however, will follow the programmes of study of the universities in which they were enrolled.
