North Bengal Medical College (estd. 1968) is the largest healthcare facility in the North Bengal region of West Bengal serving as a tertiary referral institute and has teaching programs for graduation and postgraduation. It is one of the nine government medical colleges in West Bengal.
The college has a diverse community of students coming from different parts of the country - from Rajasthan in the west to Manipur in the east, and Delhi in the north to Tamil Nadu in the south and even from the Andamans.
The hospital caters to a large population of 15 million in North Bengal and many more from the surrounding states of north east India and the neighbouring countries of Nepal, Bhutan and Bangladesh.
This website is an initiative of NBMCSU (North Bengal Medical College Students Union) with the goal of providing the students with a regularly updated and readily accessible information resource on the college and hospital as well as day-to-day campus events.
• The huge campus, measuring 161 acres, is shared with the students of North Bengal Dental College, Nursing Training Centre and paramedical courses.
• Guranteed hostel accommodation has been offered in the institute to each and every student. There are 4 boys hostels and 2 girls hostels made separately which provides all the basic as well as luxurious facilities like adequate water supply, aquaguard drinking water, students’ mess and canteen, recreation room, TV room, guest room and other amenities.
North Bengal Medical College (NBMC) Admissions
• Candidates who wishes to take admission in this college should give a highly competitive entrance test West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination (Medical). 15% of the seats are filled through the All India Pre-Medical Test.
• To apply for the post-graduate programs students are required to clear West Bengal Postgraduate Medical Entrance or the All India Postgraduate Medical Entrance examinations.
University registration fee: Rs. 1000/-
Examination fee (before appearing in each prof. examination): Rs. 1000/-
Monthly fee: Rs. 750/-
Hostel fees: Rs. 8/- per month (Rs. 12/- per month for Senior Boys Hostel)
