Description

Orient Flight School (OFS) was established in 1994. It is s the aviation wing of the Hindustan Group of Institutions, a pioneering educational group at Chennai, offering a wide range of courses in Engineering, Management, Applied Sciences and Aviation

The flight training at OFS meets international standards, in accordance with regulations of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and the Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), Government of India.

  • Comeericial Pilot Licence

    Duration       : 24 Months
    Eligibility     : Pass in 10+2 / P.D.C. / G.C.E. 'A' Level (or equivalent) with credit in Mathematics and Physics
    Age     : 17 years (completed)
    Medical Fitness     : As per DGCA stipulated Medical Standard, the students are required to undergo their medical examination at the Institute of Aerospace Medicine, Bangalore or Central Medical Establishment, New Delhi.
    Note     : The student should be proficient in English.

    Fliqht Training      
    Total Flying     : 200 hours
    Dual Flying     : 60 hours
    Solo Flying     : 125 hours
    Night Flying     : 5 hours
    Instrument Flying     : 10 hours


    Ground subjects :

    Students will be given training for DGCA Examinations in the following subjects in addition to the PPL syllabus as required:

    Air Regulations : Aerodrome search and rescue, rules & regulations, customs and health and knowledge of communication and navigational facilities.

    Air Navigation : Theoretical and practical navigation.

    Aviation Meteorology : Basic knowledge of aviation, weather codes and plotting, elementary synoptic meteorology including simple interpretation of weather charts and meteorological procedures relating to aviation.

    Aircraft and Engines : General principles and elementary knowledge of design, construction, maintenance and operation of aircraft, engine and instruments, ancillary systems, emergency systems, installations and equipment, basic knowledge of fuel and lubricants, loading of aircraft, weight distribution and its effect on flight characteristics.

    Aircraft Engine & Systems specific to Cessna 152.

    Radio Telephony (C.O.P.R.T.R) : Including transmission and interpretation of aural signals and operations of radio telephony apparatus on board the aircraft.

    Specific Paper (Cessna-152): Limitations, Aircraft Engines, Systems Weight & Balance Performance.

  • Multi Engine Rating on Piper Seneca III

    Duration       : 30 Days
    Eligibility     : Should be holding a current CPL. Should have passed Pilot's Technical Examination (specific) conducted by the DGCA on Piper Seneca III.
    Age     : 18 years (completed)
    Medical Fitness     : Medical as prescribed by the DGCA
           
    About the course

    Ground Training

    20 hours of training on instrumentation and an internal written examination.

    Flight Training

    Minimum 10 hours of flight training including dual, solo and night flying as laid down by the DGCA. Additional training may be required depending on individual skill.

  • Private Pilot Licence

    Duration:-  6 Months

    Eligibility:
    - Pass in 10th / G.C.E 'O' Level (or equivalent)

    Age:-
    17 years

    Medical Fitness:
    - As prescribed by DGCA

    Note:-
    The student should be proficient in English.

    Fliqht Training       
    Dual Flying     : 20 hours
    Solo Flying     : 20 hours (Cross Country flying: 5 hrs & Local flying: 15 hrs)

    Ground subjects :-

    Students will be given training for DGCA examinations in the following subjects:

    Air Regulation : Including flight rules, air traffic control practices, procedures and regulations concerning operation of aircraft.

    Air Navigation : Including elementary principles, use of aeronautical maps and charts, time, magnetism, magnetic compasses, simple navigation and simple flight planning.

    Aviation Meteorology : Elementary aviation meteorology including significance of aerodrome warnings, elementary knowledge in reading of met charts, met procedures, relating to cross country flights and salient features of Indian climatology.

    Technical aspects of aerodynamics and theory of flights, aircraft, engine, instruments, operating limitations, handling, care and pre-flight inspection.

    Aircraft Engine & Systems specific to Cessna 152.
