Rayapati Venkata Ranga Rao College of Education was ushered into existence under the aegis of the Nagarjuna Education Society during the academic year 1983-84, thanks to the lofty idealism and munificence of two philanthropic gentlemen, Vidwan Sri Gogineni Kanakaiah, a devout business magnet and pioneer educationist, and Sri Rayapati Sambasivarao, Member of Parliament, four times, distinguished for his public spirited endeavours, to meet the tremendous demand for and interest in teacher eduction, the Nagarjuna Education society with zeal had seized on the idea of launching a new college of Education in Guntur, in open category, where two missionary Colleges of Education catering predominantly to the students of their denominations, found themselves in a tight corner to meet the mounting demand of the society for admissions into B.Ed.course. The devoted efforts put forth by Nagarjuna Education Society have taken a concrete shape in starting the College of Education from the academic year 1983-84.
The College has the felicitious distinction of having its first B.Ed. programme inaugurated by Dr.K.Raja Rama Mohana Rao, the then esteemed Vice-chancellor of the Nagarjuna University on the forenoon of 5th January 1984 in the distinguished presence of the elite of the town. Since then. The College is a landmark in the history of quality teacher education in Andhra Pradesh.
With foresight, the management of the College has strained every nerve to establish Post-graduate course in Education in the year 1991-92 with a view to prepare quality educationists in the field to cater to the needs of the prospective Colleges of Education. The students who have left the portals of this college after completing M.Ed. Cource have spread to the nook and corner of Andhra Pradesh, kindling the intellect and spreading the right knowledge among the teacher trainees.
