Description

Reliance Institute of Life Sciences (RILS) is an institution of higher learning in various domains of life sciences and related technologies. It is also possibly the first ever effort in India to provide graduate, postgraduate, doctoral, research and continuing education programs in several emerging areas of science and technology.

Established by the Dhirubhai Ambani Foundation (registered under Bombay Public Trust Act 1950), RILS is dedicated to specific areas of fundamental and applied research that include basic and applied sciences, computer science and engineering, biomedical science and engineering, pharmaceutical science and engineering, agriculture and environment sciences, process development and manufacturing science and clinical research. RILS also aims to foster collaborative research with various national and international research institutes, as well as life sciences companies across the globe.

Besides offering enriching experience through highly qualified faculty, RILS programs are designed to be at par with some of the world's best educational institutions, placing students on the fast track to a promising career in biotechnology.
 

Reliance Institute of Life Sciences (RILS) Courses offered

  • Advanced Diploma in Biotherapeutics

    The program comprises three months of classroom training, dealing with various aspects of cell therapy, bio-processing and cGMP manufacturing. Project work of nine months duration will follow classroom training.


    Eligibility:-

    Candidates who have graduated in 2007/2008 with the following degrees:

        * B.Tech. or B.E. (Bio/Chemical Engineering/Biotechnology/Industrial Biotechnology)

        * M.Sc. (Applied Biology/Biochemistry/Biotechnology/Life Sciences/Microbiology)

    Final year students who are writing their examinations this year are also eligible to apply. The applicants must hold a first class in his/her academics at the time of application. The maximum age limit for the admission to this program is 25 years.

  • Advanced Diploma in Clinical Research

    This 52-week duration part time program is designed to meet the need of Contract Research Organizations, which primarily focus on conducting clinical trials for bioavailability / bio-equivalence studies of drug molecules.


    Eligibility:-

    Professionals working at Mumbai and Navi Mumbai area in the field of Clinical Research or related domains are eligible to apply. The applicant must hold any of the following degrees:

        * B.Pharm
        * B.Tech. in Biotechnology
        * M.Pharm.
        * MBBS
        * MD
        * M.Sc. in Applied Biology/Biochemistry/Biotechnology/Life Sciences/Microbiology
        * Ph.D. in Pharmacology/Pharmacodynamics/Epidemiology/Biostatistics

  • ECG Readers' Program (ERP)

    The aim of this highly specialized program is to train medical doctors on ECG measurement, annotation and overall assessment at par with international standard. A batch of 4, comprising medical doctors are pursuing this program since January 2008.

  • Young Agri-Professionals Program (YAPP)

    This program has been designed with the objective to develop competency in the field of agriculture and good farming practices. The professionals are trained in the latest techniques in soil analysis, high yielding farm practices, and in rural management. This program caters to Reliance Group of Industries' bio-diesel program and retail business. A batch of 24, comprising graduates in agriculture and agricultural engineering are pursuing this program since August 2007.

  • Young Clinical Professionals' Program (YCPP)

    The YCPP was developed with the objective of developing competency for Reliance Clinical Research Services (RCRS). This program focuses on training participants in various aspects of clinical research, clinical trial, bio-equivalence and bioavailability studies and regulatory affairs. RILS selected in August 2006 and trained a batch of 37 graduates/postgraduates (MBBS/MD, M.Sc in biological sciences, biochemistry, microbiology, biotechnology and M.Pharm) for this program. These professionals have successfully completed the program and joined various streams of RCRS. Another batch of 42 postgraduates has been enrolled in the program, since May 2007.

  • Young Engineers' Program (YEP

    The YEP focuses on building competency for designing, engineering, implementation, installation, commissioning and validation of a highly automated biopharmaceuticals manufacturing plant, compliant with the regulations of Indian FDA, USFDA and EMEA. RILS selected and subsequently trained a batch of 42 young engineering graduates (B.Tech / B.E. in bio/chemical engineering, civil, electrical, instrumentation and mechanical) for this program in January 2006. These professionals have successfully completed the program and joined various streams of RLS.

  • Young Laboratory Technicians Program (YLTP)

    This program aims to develop competency in the field of molecular diagnostics and genetics services. This is a highly laboratory skill development oriented program where "hands on" training is imparted on high end diagnostics tests. A batch of 10, comprising graduates in life sciences, biochemistry, chemistry plus a diploma in medical laboratory technologies are currently pursuing the program since January 2008.

  • Young Manufacturing Professionals' Program (YMPP)

    The YMPP aims at developing competency in the field of biologics (natural and recombinant) manufacturing, following current good manufacturing practices. RILS selected a batch of 41 science graduates (B.Sc in biological sciences, biochemistry, microbiology, biotechnology) and diploma holders (Pharmacy and chemical engineering) for the program in November 2006. This training program is being conducted in association with BioZeen, a Bangalore-based, private training and consultancy organization in the field of biotechnology. These professionals have successfully completed the program and joined various functions of Reliance Biopharmaceuticals Pvt. Ltd. (RBPL). Subsequently, about 90 graduates and postgraduates were selected in 2007 and are currently participating in the program.

  • Young Quality Management Professionals' Program (YQMPP)

    This program aims to develop competency in quality control and quality assurance. It trains participants on various laboratory practices (pertaining to quality control in biologics and cell therapy products), regulatory practices (pertaining to quality assurance for biologics and cell therapy products) and manufacturing facilities. A batch of 20, comprising postgraduates in microbiology, biochemistry, biotechnology, biological sciences and pharmaceutical sciences are pursuing the program since December 2006. These professionals have successfully completed the program and joined various streams of quality management.

  • Young Scientists' Program (YSP)

    This program has been designed to build competencies required by business development functions in RLS. It imparts advanced training in sales and marketing of a knowledge-based product portfolio. The program places great emphasis on the scientific concepts and technologies, which are instrumental in developing the products, so as to enable the professionals to explain the salient features of the products to the customer. A batch of 24, comprising graduates in Life Sciences, Biochemistry, Microbiology plus MBA are participating in this program since July 2007.
