The S.B. Patil Dental College and Hospital was established in Bidar by the Somanath Educational Trust in the year 1991.The institute is recognised by the Dental Council of India, New Delhi Vide No.: DC-73-99/2688 and affiliated to Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Bangalore, Karnataka.
This Institute was solely started to impart knowledge to the students irrespective of their caste, creed or social status. It also responds to the great need of today’s professional courses, which are completely practice oriented. The principle behind imparting knowledge by this institute is different from others in the sense that the emphasis is laid on learning updated techniques for the preventive aspects rather than the orthodox concept of disease control.
The traditional Gurukul atmosphere with lush green, peaceful ambience outside and the advanced state of the art technology within. The objective is to provide the right blend of environment for the students to bring out their best talent to achieve outstanding performance and get recognition.

35% of seats are reserved for the merit quota and the same will be filled by the Government of Karnataka from among the students appearing for the Common Entrance Test (C.E.T.), being held in April/May of each year. 65% of the seats are earmarked to be filled by the management among the students appearing for the UG COMED-K Entrance Test.
BDS Eligibility: - The candidate should have passed its 10+2 in Karnataka or its equivalent examination. Along with his 10+2, candidate must have studied its Physics, Chemistry and Biology in the qualifying examination conducted by any recognized Indian Higher Secondary Board or equivalent qualification.
Age qualification: - Candidate must have completed seventeen years of age to qualify and he should medically fit for the programme.
