Description
Satyajit Ray Films and Television Institute was started in 1995 by the government of India. It is registered under the West Bengal Societies Registration Act, 1961. The institute is located in cool and pollution free enviornment in Kolkata, West Bengal. The institute is named after great film expert Satyajit Ray. It is located in sprawling green campus with lakes and ponds that offers a range of settings to the sharp filmmaker with creative minds. It has various blocks namely Administrative block, Department of Direction & Screenplay Writing, Department of Audiography, Department of Editing, Department of Cinematography.
The administrative block of the institute includes offices of president, director, dean, registrar, accounts & purchase. It has two studio floors which is fully air conditioned with highly advanced technology. The institute has state-of-the-art infrastructure for the convenience of the students. Library of the institute has a rich collection of books and also has computerised catalouge. It also has a film library. It provides many other facilities like Regional Centre of the NFAI, Student Exchange Programme, Auditorium & Screening facilities, Post Office, Canteen, Internet & Photocopying, Hostels, Guest House, etc. The highly experienced staff members along with the guest lecturer conducts lecture under the guidance of the Dean, Shri Nilotpal Majumdar.
