The T A Pai Management Institute (TAPMI) located in the international university town of Manipal (Karnataka), is among the leading management institutes in India, and is reputed for its academic rigour and faculty-student interaction. Founded by the visionary, Late Shri. T. A. Pai, TAPMI’s mission is to provide much needed impetus to the task of building professional management capability in the country. In the process, it has also played a role in strengthening the existing educational and health infrastructure of Manipal.

Since its founding in 1984, TAPMI has received recognition and respect amongst the well-known industrial houses and academic institutions in India for the quality of its education. Over the years, the institute has earned a name for its Post Graduate Programme in Management (equivalent to an MBA) and the quality of student talent it has produced. Continuous improvements in the curriculum, structure, academic systems and faculty resources have contributed significantly to making TAPMI a preferred centre for management education. Today, over 1900 TAPMI alumni hold responsible managerial positions in India and abroad.

In early 2009, its 25th year running, TAPMI took a landmark step in its history by shifting its operations to a new scenic 42-acre residential campus in Manipal. Located on the side of a hillock and overlooking a valley filled with verdant tropical greenery, this campus provides an ideal setting for serious academic study and creativity, combined with entertainment and relaxation.

Manipal is home to a large number of educational institutes for medicine, pharmacy, dentistry, arts and science, engineering and technology and is known for its cosmopolitan ambience. The town is also known for its innovative development banking and financial services sector. The legendary pilgrimage town of Udupi is just a 15 minute drive from Manipal.


  • eGovernance Program for Executives (eGPX)

    TAPMI launched its eGovernance Program for Executives (eGPX) in collaboration with the National Institute for Smart Government [NISG], Hyderabad, on the 6th  of April 2009, with 31 participants from government and corporate sectors.  The inaugural function was presided over by senior leaders from corporate world and academia, including Dr. Subash Bhatnagar of IIM Ahmedabad, Dr. H S Ballal, Pro Chancellor of Manipal University, Dr. Saji Gopinath, Director of TAPMI and Prof. Harish Iyer, the coordinator of the eGPX program.

    Eligibility:- A bachelor’s degree in any discipline with 50% marks in the aggregate.

    Professional Experience:- 5 years of relevant managerial / administrative experience in Government / Private sector /NGO / Public Sector preferred.

    Admission Procedure:-

    Admission through CAT, XAT, GMAT Scores

    Short listing Process
    Candidates will be short listed based on

    • Their past academic performance;
    • The number of years of experience;
    • The nature of their experience;
    • The quality of essays submitted as part of the application

    Selection process

    The final selection will be based on combined scores from

    • The short listing stage;
    • Panel interview; and
    • Final selection interview

  • PGDM program in Banking & Financial Services (PGDM- BFS)

    The programme will be of two years duration, divided into six terms: three in each year.  The student will take about 20 credits in each of the three terms of the first year (a total of 60 credits), covering foundation and core courses such as Quantitative Techniques, Accounting, Organizational Theory and Practice, Micro Economics, Communication, and Business Law and a few courses related to Banking and Financial Services

    A three-year (10+2+3) University Degree in any discipline, recognised by the AIU with not less than 50% overall aggregate marks.

    Admission Procedure:-

    Admission through CAT, GMAT Score Merit List

    Candidates are short-listed and invited to participate in the Group Discussion & Personal Interview

  • PGDM-Healthcare Management

    Duration:- 2 years

    Eligibility:- A three-year (10+2+3) University Degree in any discipline, recognised by the AIU with not less than 50% overall aggregate marks.

  • Post Graduate Diploma In Management (PGDM)

    This fully residential program evolved through TAPMI’s continuous interaction with the industry and academia. The program’s orientation addresses issues faced by firms in the larger context of globalized competition.


    TAPMI offers a full time two year post graduate diploma in management. The program is fully residential. Twenty three batches have successfully completed the program and currently hold positions of responsibility and authority in the industry. A significant number of them are working overseas.

    The post graduate program (PGP) offered by TAPMI has evolved through a continuous interaction of the institute with the industry and academia. Structured thematically, it has a high degree of relevance and appropriateness in the current context of globalization and competition.

    TAPMI emphasizes on practice and experiential learning, which make it a unique experience for students. TAPMI faculty is a mixture of academic excellence and industry practice with about 70% having Doctoral qualification.

    TAPMI has been attracting bright, young talent with diverse backgrounds who are desirous of a career in management. Students come from various disciplines such as engineering, commerce, arts, science, law, pharmacy, medicine and so on from all parts of the country. And there is also a right blend of experience and youth creating an ideal platform for creativity and maturity.

    TAPMI is located in Manipal, an international university town having more than 15000 students from across the globe pursuing education in Medicine, Engineering, Pharmacy, Information Technology, Journalism and Management. The ambience at Manipal is vibrant, cosmopolitan and intellectually stimulating

    Eligibility:- A three-year (10+2+3) University Degree in any discipline, recognised by the AIU as eligible for Post Graduation, with not less than 50% overall aggregate marks. This applies to also those with professional qualifications like Chartered Accountancy, Cost Accounting and Company Secretary. Candidates appearing for final year degree examination may also apply. However such candidates, if selected by TAPMI, are required to produce proof of completion of graduation by the time they join the PGP program and their passing certificates and testimonials within the stipulated date thereafter.



•    TAPMI’s new facility has several classrooms with seating capacities ranging from 60 students to 90 students. The classrooms are all air conditioned and specially designed for interactive participation, with executive-style seating and furniture.

•    The library is housed in a centrally air-conditioned three floored independent building having plinth area of about 12,500 sq. ft. with a seating capacity of 120 users. The electronic resources in the library include Audio/Video Cassettes, CDs/DVDs and on-line/offline databases such as EBSCO’s business source Complete, Proquest’s ABI Inform global, ISI Emerging Markets, CRISIL's Industry Analysis, NCTI’s trade-info, CMIE’s Prowess, CapEx & EIS.

•    The institute provides high end laptops of industry standard configuration to students and faculty, along with LAN connections (both wired and wireless), in addition to 24/7 Internet connectivity.

•    A bright, spacious hall overlooking the valley houses TAPMI’s new canteen and mess to provide students, faculty and staff with nutritious food for the body and the mind.

•    TAPMI’s new campus has two hostels for men and one for women.  The hostels have been designed keeping in mind the students’ requirements for rigorous study accompanied by soothing relaxation.  Each room has an attached bathroom and 24-hour hot water facility supported by solar heating.

T. A. Pai Management Institute's placement cell not only provides placement assistance to the students in relevant organisation but it also helps the students of the institute in their career planning, preparation for selection tests, summer placement, internship and final placements.

Summer Placements:-

Summer Internship Recruitment Programme (SIRP) is conducted every year by T. A. Pai Management Institute where in top organizations of the country are invited to recruit first year students for summer internships. The companies participating were Avalon Consulting, IMRB, J.P. Morgan, ACG Worldwide, Cognizant Technology Solutions, Infosys, Deloitte, Wipro Group, KPMG, Manipal Group, UB Group, Citi Group, and Titan Industries.

Final Placements:-

A total of 58 companies offered 165 students for placement. 26% students were placed in BFSI sector, 12% in Consulting sector, 42% in IT sector, 9% in Manufacturing sector and the rest in telecom, retail, Pharmaceutical, media, FMGC sector. The companies participating were Infosys, Wipro, Accenture, IBM, HP, SAP, CISCO, Oracle, ABB, 3M, Citibank, J P Morgan, Northern Trust, HSBC, ANZ, E&Y, Standard Chartered , Deutsche Bank, Siemens, Sony, Lenovo, Motorola, Coco-Cola, Toyota, Honda, BMW, Arvid Mills, Bridgestone, Asian Paints, Godrej, Bajaj Group.
