Description

The University Visvesvaraya College of Engineering, popularly known as UVCE, is an engineering college affiliated to the Bangalore University, and is located in Bangalore, India. The college was established in the year 1917, by Bharat Ratna Sir M. Visvesvaraya. The college is approved by the AICTE and the Government of Karnataka. The departments are accredited by the National Board of Accreditation, New Delhi.

From its inception, the college has grown steadily and is imparting quality technical education. It has produced a number of professional graduates and post-graduates, who are placed in very high positions in India and abroad. The admission of students to the undergraduate courses is entirely on the basis of merit through the Common Entrance Test (CET) conducted by the state government. Normally, the top-ranking students of the Common Entrance Test choose this college for their admission. The entrance to post-graduate courses is through the Degree, GATE and entrance test results.

The alumni of UVCE, spread globally and involved in front line engineering education, research and entrepreneurship, stand testimony to the quality of engineering education imparted in this prestigious technical institution. Every year, nearly 450 students graduate at the under-graduate level from five disciplines and are employed in reputed organisations. Among the various engineering colleges in Karnataka, UVCE was the earliest to have offered post-graduate courses.

Infrastructure

At present, this is the only engineering college under the annals of the Bangalore University. UVCE has recently completed its glorious platinum jubilee. Equipped with modern laboratories and facilities, UVCE is known for its dedicated faculty as well as its progressive research and development activities. The campus of the institute is spread in 15 acres of land and is housed with different blocks for various fields. Natural surroundings of the institute keep the environment cool and hence convenient for the students to pursue their studies. The Campus has a rock garden which is the coolest place for the hangout within the campus. It also has open air theater, Wi-Fi connectivity, seminar hall, library, sports room, music room, etc. It has well maintained hostels for the outstation students with all the basic facilities. Students staying in the hostels never get a chance to complain about the management of the hostels.
