Description

Vels University is one of its kind in the city of Chennai.The institute was established in the year 1992. The University status was conferred to Vel's Group of Institutions, by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Govt. of India.

The University is governed by Governing Board or otherwise known as Board of Management and this is the highest statutory body of this University. The members of this Board is drawn from various agencies. The Board has members representing University Grants Commission, Govt. of India, Industry, Eminent persons out side Academia, Senior Academic persons and senior officials of the University. The Chancellor is the Chairman of the Board and the board meets periodically to frame policies and programmes for the growth and improvement of VISTAS.

It is a pleasure to notice that VISTAS presents a cosmopolitan culture. Students from a wide variety of social, cultural and geographical backgrounds live and study together at VISTAS. The students are shaped and fine tuned as per the requirements of global industries. The environment-friendly Green campus is equipped with all facilities, where every need of both student and faculty have been provided for.


To promote a student-friendly learning environment, the University is following the semester pattern and choice based credit system for all its academic programme both at the under-graduate and post graduate levels.

The university offers facilities like Computing Centre, sophisticated labs, well-furnished class rooms along with Wi-Fi internet facilities. The strength of the University can be attributed to

Vels University Courses offered

  • B.B.A.

    Duration:- 3 Years ( 6 Semesters)

    Eligibility:-  Pass in + 2 in any stream

    Fees:-     Rs.12,000 p.a

  • B.C.A.

    Duration:- 3 Years

    Eligibility:-  Pass in +2 with Mathematics

    Fees:- Rs.30,000/- p.a

  • B.E. Civil Engineering

    Duration:- 4 years

    Eligibility:- A pass in 10 + 2 or its equivalent with a minimum aggregate of 50% marks in Physics/Chemistry/Mathematics (PCM). Candidates appearing for their Board Examination during March/April 2010 are also eligible to apply.

    Admission Procedure:- Admission on the basis of the marks secured in the qualifying examination and the entrance examination conducted by this university

    Fees:- Rs.80,000/- per annum

  • B.E. Computer Science Engineering (CSE)

    Duration:- 4 years

    Eligibility:- A pass in 10 + 2 or its equivalent with a minimum aggregate of 50% marks in Physics/Chemistry/Mathematics (PCM). Candidates appearing for their Board Examination during March/April 2010 are also eligible to apply.

    Admission Procedure:    - Admission on the basis of the marks secured in the qualifying examination and the entrance examination conducted by this university

  • B.E. Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE)

    Duration:- 4 Years

    Eligibility:- Pass in +2, with PCM

  • B.E. Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE)

    Duration:- 4 Years

    Eligibility:- Pass in +2, with PCM

  • B.E. Marine Engineering

    Duration:- 4 years

    Eligibility:-     A pass in 10 + 2 or its equivalent with a minimum aggregate of 50% marks in Physics/Chemistry/Mathematics (PCM). Candidates appearing for their Board Examination during March/April 2010 are also eligible to apply.

    Duration:- 4 Years

    Eligibility:- Pass in +2, with PCM

    Eligibility:-  As per norms of PCI, should have studied Physics, Chemistry, Maths or Biology / Botany & Zoology

  • B.Sc. Biotechnology

    Duration:- 3 Years

    Eligibility:-  Pass in +2 with Biology or Computer Science (Computer Science students have to undergo a Bridge course in Biology in the 1st semester to gain basic knowledge in Biology)

  • B.Sc. Computer Science

    Duration:- 3 Years

    Eligibility:-  Pass in +2 with Maths or Computer Science/Business Maths/Statistics

  • B.Sc. Nautical Science

    Duration:- 3 Years

    Eligibility:- Pass in +2, with minimum 60% aggr. In PCM group & minimum 50% in English at 10th or 12th. Max. age 25 yrs

  • M.C.A.

    Duration:- 3 Years

    Eligibility:-  Any degree with Maths or Statistics as main / allied level or any degree with Maths at +2 level

  • M.E. Communication System

    Duration:- 2 Years

    Eligibility:-  B.E. / B.Tech. (ECE / Electronics)

  • M.E. Computer Science and Engineering

    Duration:- 2 Years

    Eligibility:-  B.E./ B.Tech. (EEE / ECE / Electronics / IT / CSE / I&C / E&I / Instrumentation) or M.C.A. or M.Sc. 5 years integrated (IT / CS / Software Engineering)
