Job Description:-

Role Summary/Purpose:-

This opening is for “Lead Engineer - Engine Sensor & Diagnostic” Engineer in Engine Component COE, Bangalore. This position will be focused on developing a robust diagnostic & prognostic approach for new development engines. The job will entail the evaluation of various diagnostic & prognostic approaches to engines and develop a robust & cost effective solution for locomotive engine application. The engineer will work with engines sensor, controls experts and suppliers to come up with recom

Essential Responsibilities:-

Responsible for development of engine diagnostics methods, tools, logics & validation program
Responsible for development of methods, approaches & specifics of engine air management, fuel management, exhaust after treatment, exhaust gas recirculation & turbocharger managements
Responsible for development of engine control & protection algorithm for EMS or ECU specifications
Responsible for determining top level control strategy (shut-down when water low, shut-down if over fill or have operator drain off, etc)
Responsibility for writing System Functional specification, System design specification, Interface Control documentations, component Purchase Specification & such requirement documentation as required
Responsible for developing options for possible sensors (includes all environments, temp, system pressure, vibration, etc)
Working along with control and software development team for implementation of engine protection & diagnostics algorithm
Determine backward compatibility of new systems if effective to fielded fleets to improve reliability and reduce service cost
Drive the culture of innovation/ideation & IP generation
Drive six sigma process rigor to continuously improve the quality of output
Responsible for business metrics related to design reviews, project management, schedules and quality
Communicate project status, schedules, upcoming deliverables, and technical solutions between various teams. Method of communications to include, but not limiting to, design review process and team meetings

Qualifications/Requirements:

Bachelor/Postgraduate in Mechanical engineering or electrical engineering or Mechatronics with 8+ years experience in diesel, gasoline or aero engine controls, diagnostics development, sensor development, validation & implementation
Good understanding of diesel engine operations & control parameters
Good understanding of various sensor technologies, diagnostics approaches, control algorithms & layouts
Proficiency in design, test & analysis tool relevant to job function
Proven Program/project management/influencing/communication skills

Desired Characteristics:-

Experience with control system simulation & engine diagnostics development
Six sigma GB/BB certification or use of statistical methods in engineering
Proven ability to drive/embrace change
Proven problem solving, analytical skills & new idea generation
Good understanding of engine failure modes & symptoms
Good interpersonal, communication and organizational integration skills
Exposure to simulation tools such as GT Controls, INCA etc
