About Blanton-Peale Institute
The Blanton-Peale Institute is a multi-faith, non-sectarian educational and mental health service organization founded in 1937 by the internationally famous pastor and author, The Rev. Norman Vincent Peale of New York City's Marble Collegiate Church, and the eminent psychiatrist Dr. Smiley Blanton. Blanton-Peale was established to bring together the insights of psychology and psychiatry and the wisdom of the great spiritual traditions to help modern men and women, families and caregivers, with the psychological, emotional, and spiritual stresses of contemporary life.
The Graduate Institute at Blanton-Peale offers several academic programs under an Absolute Charter from the State of New York. Our two certificate-granting residency programs are Psychoanalysis and Marriage and Family Therapy (Pending). The Psychoanalytic Training Program offers persons interested in the integration of spirituality and psychology a State-approved licensure-qualifying residency in psychoanalysis. The foundation of these programs is a belief that the psychoanalyst, mental health worker andclergy person benefits from an integration of the insights of modern psychology, psychoanalysis and the great religious traditions.
