About Blanton-Peale Institute
The Blanton-Peale Institute is a multi-faith, non-sectarian educational and mental health service organization founded in 1937 by the internationally famous pastor and author, The Rev. Norman Vincent Peale of New York City's Marble Collegiate Church, and the eminent psychiatrist Dr. Smiley Blanton. Blanton-Peale was established to bring together the insights of psychology and psychiatry and the wisdom of the great spiritual traditions to help modern men and women, families and caregivers, with the psychological, emotional, and spiritual stresses of contemporary life.

The Graduate Institute at Blanton-Peale offers several academic programs under an Absolute Charter from the State of New York. Our two certificate-granting residency programs are Psychoanalysis and Marriage and Family Therapy (Pending). The Psychoanalytic Training Program offers persons interested in the integration of spirituality and psychology a State-approved licensure-qualifying residency in psychoanalysis. The foundation of these programs is a belief that the psychoanalyst, mental health worker andclergy person benefits from an integration of the insights of modern psychology, psychoanalysis and the great religious traditions.

Qualified persons, with graduate degrees or professionals licenses in Mental Health Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, Creative Arts Therapy, Social workers, LMSWs and LCSWs, Psychologists, Psychiatrists and mental health Nurses, Clergy, other mental health and human services practitioners, those with training in education, the law, finance, the arts and humanities may apply to the 4-year Training Program in Psychoanalysis or take courses, as a non-matriculated student, before applying for the formal Psychoanalytic Program. While full-time involvement in the training program is the optimum learning model, a part-time program may be approved. Scholarship funds are awarded according to need and the availability of resources.

The Clergy Care and Renewal Program offers various programs to religious leaders in need, including an academic professional development program in Pastoral Care Studies.

The Headquarters Counseling Center at 3 West 29th Street in Manhattan, licensed by the New York State Office of Mental Health, and the Community Counseling Centers in the Greater New York Area, provides the general public with affordable psychotherapy. The Counseling Center also provides the setting for clinical training for psychoanalytic and marriage and family residents. The professional staff of the clinic represents a wide range of clinical disciplines, theoretical approaches, cultural-ethnic identities, and faith traditions.

Both the Blanton-Peale Counseling Center and Graduate Institute are non-denominational and open to all qualified individuals. Blanton-Peale does not discriminate on the basis of belief, age, disability, race, ethnicity, lifestyle, sexual orientation, gender, culture, nationality or religion.

Blanton-Peale depends on the generosity of its many friends and supporters to continue its work. To help, please contact Ms. Nancy Simpson, Development Associate (212) 725-7850, Ext 106
