About Fujian University of Technology (FJUT)
The Fujian University of Technology (FJUT) was established in 2002 by merging Fujian Polytechnic College and Fujian College of Architecture and Civil Engineering, which were once under one roof of "Fujian Gaogong", a nationally renown school before the founding of PRC. Fujian University of Technology is located in the historic city of Fuzhou,.
Today, the University also has a reputation for excellence in other fields including engineering, architecture , economics , management, Jurisprudence and Literature. At present, the University is made up of 12 academic departments, 2 teaching divisions and 1 school, namely, Department of Electromechanical and Automation Engineering, Department of Computer and Information Science, Department of Electronic Information and Electrical Engineering, Department of Economic Management, Department of Modern Media, Department of Jurisprudence, Department of Civil Engineering, Department of Architecture and Planning, Department of Engineering Management, Department divisions are Political Science Division and Physical Education Division. The present 34 Bachelor’s Programs involve engineering, economics, management, humanities, basic science and jurisprudence. Of the present 15,128 full-time students, undergraduate students are 8890, collegiate students are 6238, and the adult school students are 5744.
FJUT possesses a relatively well-structured, high quality faculty. Of the present 1350 university staff, the faculty is 697, among them there are 213 professors and associate professors. So far FJUT has invited Lin Youkun, Sun Jun, Shen Zhiyun, Ruan Xieyu, Liu Baochen, Chen Huowang, Chen Qingqian, and Chen Yijian, and 20 experts as the university’s visiting professors. Lin Youkun is an academician of American Academy of Engineering, whereas Sun Jun, Shen Zhiyun, Ruan Xieyu, Liu Baochen, Chen Huowang, Chen Qingqian, and Chen Yijian are academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences or the Chinese Academy of Engineering.
FJUT owns Shanxi Campus, Cangshan Campus and Pudong Campus and occupies a total area of 40.5 ha (607 mu). Its new location in Fuzhou University District will occupy an area of 107 ha (1608 mu). The university is equipped with sufficient facilities for teaching and learning with a total of 47 laboratories, the total value of the teaching equipment amounting to 71,420,000 Yuan. The university has a university-wide intra-net, a computer center, a number of multi-media classrooms and language laboratories, adequate facilities for physical training and recreation. The university also runs 11 research institutes, 14 attached enterprises and 108 off-campus practice bases. In addition, Fujian Mold Design and Development Base, Fujian Experimental Centre for Electrical Vehicle, Sub-center of Advanced Manufacturing Technology of Fujian Productive Force Promotion Center as well as Fujian Teachers Training Center for Software Higher Vocational Education locate on the campuses.
FJUT adheres to the focus of talent development with stress on fostering the creativity and practical capabilities of the students, which has uplifted the teaching quality. Over the last two years FJUT has won 65 national awards in specialty competitions, 157 provincial awards and provincial competition district awards. The number of prizes and the grade of the prizes were among the top of similar provincial universities. In the recent years FJUT graduates have enjoyed a high employment rate among similar provincial universities.
