About La Salle University
On behalf of the entire La Salle community, welcome to our University.

Here at La Salle, we are building not only on the 144-year legacy of La Salle, but also on the 300-year tradition of the Christian Brothers, a focus on excellent teaching and what the Brothers’ founder, Saint John Baptist de La Salle, called “touching the hearts of our students.”

La Salle University is a dynamic educational community shaped by traditional Catholic and Lasallian values: a deep respect for each individual, a belief that intellectual and spiritual development go hand in hand, a passion for creative teaching and learning, and a conviction that education should be useful—for personal growth, professional advancement, and service to others.

We believe in providing each student with the maximum possible individual support toward personal, intellectual, and spiritual growth. This kind of personal approach to students has long been a characteristic of La Salle faculty—and it continues to flourish today.

La Salle is a total learning community with an appreciation for the multiple ways of learning, ranging from the seminar room and hands-on experiential learning, like internships, to active participation in on-campus clubs and organizations.

La Salle’s urban setting in Philadelphia can greatly contribute to a student’s education by providing everything from access to interesting co-op and internship opportunities to world-class culture and entertainment.

The University’s environment fosters students’ involvement in their own education, both inside and outside the classroom; supports and challenges them; engages and empowers them, all with the goal of providing a transforming experience, one that will ensure their lifelong association with La Salle.

We are blessed with alumni who continue their lifelong association with La Salle by actively supporting the University and our students in so many ways. I am convinced that great universities are great because their alumni make them so.

Surveys of our alumni reveal that they credit the University’s purposeful liberal arts approach for improving their thinking and reasoning, problem solving, and written and oral communication skills, as well as preparing them for a life of learning and rewarding personal lives.

At La Salle, we believe that one way to have a rewarding personal life is to contribute to improving the quality of life in communities both near and far. We encourage students to join with faculty, staff, and alumni in community service activities, and we support service leaders with scholarships.

Since its founding in 1863, La Salle has grown and evolved to meet the needs of the times.  Now with three schools—Arts and Sciences, Business, and Nursing and Health Sciences—as well as our College of Professional and Continuing Studies, fulfilling our long tradition of serving adult learners, we serve more than 7,000 graduate and undergraduate students.

As a Christian Brother, a La Salle professor, an alumnus, and the University’s President, I remain committed to continuing the positive momentum at La Salle by making investments designed to enhance the total student life experience.

La Salle’s interactive map will be temporarily unavailable while it is updated to reflect recent campus expansion and development projects. This map, while not interactive, does show the most up-to-date information on campus buildings, parking areas, and other services and will be accessible online until the new version of the interactive map is completed.
