American International School Chennai Admission Procedure and Admission Fee:-
Admission to the American International School - Chennai is open to any child of expatriate parents, regardless of race, gender, religion, or country of origin. Students may enroll at any time during the school year, which commences in August and runs through to June of the following calendar year. The school operates on a semester-based calendar with a three-week holiday in December between the first and second semesters, and a two-week Spring Break midway through the second semester.
Under Indian Government Ministry of External Affairs regulations, children holding Indian passports may be considered for admission only if they are temporary residents in India and are returning to an American or International system of education. Parents of such children may be required to sign a Letter of Agreement stating that they understand and meet the above criteria.
Children may be considered for entrance to the Preschool, Kindergarten, and Grade One only if they reach the age of three, five, and six years respectively on or before December 31 of the school year. Placement decisions will take into consideration the school's ability to deliver educational services appropriate to a child.
Documents Required: AISC requires a copy of an official visa for the student. Students who hold a Student Visa or a Dependent Visa (X Visa) are eligible for admission.
AISC is a school for day students. There are no boarding facilities or provisions for students whose parents live and work outside Chennai.
Once the application is submitted with all the relevant documents, the application and supporting documentation will be reviewed by the Guidance Counselor and a recommendation will be made to the Principal as to appropriate grade level placement.
The Principal will then review all of the information associated with the application and make a final decision with regard to grade level placement. If the student is in Chennai at the time of grade placement, an interview will be conducted by the respective Principal.
AISC has no fixed enrolment dates. Parents are, however, requested to call in prior to enrolment.
Students entering the Elementary School (Grades 1-5) should submit their most recent school records and a narrative statement from their last classroom teacher with their application. Students entering the Middle and High School (Grades 6-12) should submit recent school records and a written evaluation from their school counselor/principal/registrar or similar. Students coming from a non-American school may be required to take tests to assist the school in determining appropriate placement.
In all cases, the final decision regarding admission and placement rests with the AISC administration.
