Hindu School was established in 1917. It is one of the oldest and leading institutions for education in India.
Hindu School, Kolkata is housed in an elegant 19th century building at College Street, the hub of intellectual activities of the city, in the humbling company of Presidency College, Calcutta University and Calcutta Medical College. Managed by the Government of West Bengal, Hindu School follows the syllabus ordained by the West Bengal Board of Secondary Education and West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education, the medium of instruction being Bengali. It is a boys only school and has classes I - XII.
Hindu School, Kolkata Admission Procedure and Admission Fee:-
Students are admitted in three different levels. For admission to the lowest level i.e. Class I , an open lottery system (this is usually determined by the West Bengal Government's current dictum at that time) is used and approximately 100+ students are admitted at this time. Again in sixth & three standards there is an enhancement of a class consisting of 30+ students through an open written test conducted by the school. In both the cases, application forms are obtained from the school office. For admission in the Higher Secondary courses forms are issued just after the publication of Madhyamik results of the West Bengal Board of Secondary Education and students securing minimum 85 % marks in aggregate in Madhyamik (Varies from year to year, please contact the Hindu School authorities for the current requirements) or its equivalent are eligible to seek admission for three different departments - Science, Commerce and Arts.
This school offers facilities like library, laboratories, well ventilated classrooms & a play area.
