Engineering grads form an important part of the combined personnel strength of  government services. If there is an IAS exam for recruiting comptent personnel into various government services the IES exam is special test that is designed for recruiting engineering aspirants into various government services. Engineering graduates are free to apply according their area of specialisation. Based on the scores obatined eligible candidates are recruited into services of railways, public welfare department, defense, energy and telecommunication. 

Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) conducts a combined competitive examination for recruitment of Indian Engineering Services (IES) officers.

UPSC conducts IES Examination in following branches of engineering

Category I—Civil Engineering.
Category II—Mechanical Engineering.
Category III—Electrical Engineering.
Category IV—Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering.

Last Date for receipt of Applications - 12.10.2021

Date of commencement of Exam - 20.02.2022, SUNDAY

Date of commencement of Exam - 26.06.2022, SUNDAY

Duration of Exam - 1 Day
