Indira Gandhi National Open University better known by the acronym IGNOU is the largest Open University in the country. Dubbed as the people’s university it specializes in distance learning and correspondence courses. Nonetheless it holds a lion share in terms of distance and correspondence learning on account of its flexibility of admission, wide range and quality of academic programs coupled with affordable course fees.

IGNOU MBA courses are preferred by scores of distance learners as it is made out to impart qualitative management education through  by different multimedia aids. Students are benefitted from wholesome educative material that is available in form of  print notes, interactiveaids like programs, radio counseling and satellite network.

Admission – Admission to IGNOU MBA Programmes for the School of Management is done through the OPEN MAT Exam that is conducted  twice a year once in the month of April followed by August. A student can apply for one of the following OPEN MAT Exam or for both separately.
Applicants who have cleared CAT/MAT and other examination need not appear for OPEN MAT.

OPENMAT exam pattern
The OPENMAT exam pattern consist of 200 multiple choice questions which need to be answered in duration of three hours. The sections for the paper is as follows
General Awareness- 30 questions
English Language- 50 questions
Quantitative Aptitude- 50 questions
Reasoning- 70 questions

IGNOU MBA Courses- Among all MBA courses the IGNOU Distance MBA course is the most preferred. There are many as 21 courses on offer that are equivalent to an MBA degree. It also includes five post graduate diplomas in management. There are five courses from any of the specialized streams , compulsory and elective course and a project course equivalent to two courses.

Eligibility – Graduates with a bachelor’s degree in any discipline with 50 percent marks in case of general category and 45 percent marks in case of SC/ST candidates.
In other case Graduates with three years supervisory, managerial professional experience are eligible for applying.  Candidates with a professional degree in engineering, medicine, architecture, law, pharmacy, or those holding professional qualifications in accountancy, cost work accountancy and company secretary ship or a masters degree are also eligible for application.

Non graduates (10+2) or its equivalent with six years of  managerial , supervisory and professional experience are eligible for taking admission in Diploma in Management course successful completion of test.
