NEST - National Entrance Screening Test is a compulsory test for students seeking admission to National Institute of Science Education and Research (NISER), Bhubaneswar and University of Mumbai - Department of Atomic Energy Centre for Excellence in Basic Sciences (UM-DAE CBS), Mumbai.
NEST 2019 Eligibility:-
Candidates must qualify all four eligibility criteria listed below:
Candidates in General and OBC category should be born on or after August 01, 1999. The age limit is relaxed by 5 years for SC/ ST/ Physically Disabled (PD) candidates.
Class XII qualifying examination should be passed in either 2017 or 2018. Candidates appearing in 2019 are also eligible. (Where only Letter Grade is given by the Board, a certificate from the Board specifying equivalent percentage marks will be required. In the absence of such a certificate the decision of the respective Admission Committees will be final.)
At least 60% marks in aggregate (or equivalent grade) in Class XII (or equivalent) examination from any recognized Board in India. For Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST) candidates and for Persons with Disability (PD), the minimum requirement is 55%.
Candidate should secure a position in the NEST merit list.
NEST 2019 Question Paper Pattern:-
The question paper will consist of 5 (five) sections. Section 1 is compulsory for all candidates to attempt and will have questions on general science to test candidates' awareness towards basic scientific facts. There will be no negative marking in this general section. Sections 2 through 5 will containquestions from Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics. Candidates are required to answer any three ofthese four sections. The questions will be of objective (MCQ) type designed to test candidates' subjectcomprehension and analytic ability. In the subject sections, there will be negative marking for incorrectanswers. Some questions can have one or more correct answers for which marks can only be earned by marking all correct answers. NEST Syllabus 2019:-
The syllabus for NEST-2019 typically follows the NCERT / CBSE science syllabus of class XI- XII. The detailed syllabus for NEST examination is given in the Annexure-II. There is, however, no specific syllabus for the general section. This section tests candidate's familiarity with,but not detailed understanding of, major historical milestones in subjects like astronomy, biology, chemistry, mathematics, physics, computer science and environmental science. Some of the questions in this section may require knowledge of class X mathematics.
