Delhi University Ph.D in Computer Science Admission
Eligibility:To be eligible for this PhD program a candidate must have obtained a Master’s / M.Phil. degree from the University of Delhi, or any other recognized university, or any degree recognized as equivalent in the subject with aggregate of 50 marks in M.Phil or 55 percent marks in Masters degree.
Admission to the Ph.D. programme consists of two-step screening process: Entrance Test/GATE (98 percentile or higher)/NET followed by interview.
Entrance Exam consists of two parts:-
Part I : Objective Type
Part II : Subjective Type ( Part II shall be evaluated only for candidates securing at least 40% in Part I).
1.Candidates shortlisted on the basis of Part II of Entrance Test/GATE (98 percentile or higher)/NET will be called for interview.
2.Candidates shortlisted on the basis of interview will be required to look for a supervisor and fill up the application form for the purpose of admission to the program.
3. The final (provisional) admission is subject to approval of the DRC and BRS(MS).
IGNOU Ph.D in Computer Science Admission
Eligibility Criteria:-
i) For Category ‘A’:-
a. M. Phil degree in Computer Science/ Information Technology etc with 55% aggregate (50% in case of SC/ST candidates).
b. Candidates with 3 years teaching experience of teaching Computer Science courses /IT in a college or university and having qualified NET examination in Computer Science of UGC.
ii) For Category ‘B’:-
a. Master’s degree or an equivalent degree from any recognized university/institute of higher learning in any relevant branch of Science / Engineering & Technology with atleast 60% marks (55% for SC/ST/PH candidates).
b.Candidates having Master’s degree in any subject with minimum 60% marks (55% for SC/ST/PH candidates) and sufficient background in the area of computer science / IT will be considered.
c. B.Tech in Computer Science/Information Technology with 70% marks (65% marks for SC/ST/PH candidates) with 5 years experience either of teaching or in the software industry may also be considered.
Mode of Selection
i) For Category ‘A’: - Presentation+ Interview.
ii) For Category ‘B’:- Entrance Test+ Interview.
IIT Kharagpur Ph.D Computer Science Admission
Eligibilty: Candidates with B.Tech. or equivalent degree must have a valid GATE score. A GATE score is not mandatory for candidates with M.Tech. or equivalent degree. This is also applicable for sponsored candidates.
Selection Procedure: The PhD entrance procedure includes a written test.

The student should be familiar with the basic concepts of programming and should be able to write programs involving the following concepts in any one of the following languages: C, C++ or Java.

Parameter passing mechanism, scope, binding

IIT Bombay Ph.D in Computer Science Admission
1) Master’s Degree in Engineering / Technology or equivalent, with First class or 60% marks. (55% marks for SC/ST)
2) Master’s degree in Science or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering / Technology or equivalent, with First class or 60% marks (55% marks for SC/ST).
For admission in the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences and in the Industrial Design Centre, the percentage requirement is 55% marks or equivalent (50% for SC/ST).
Candidates meeting this requirement must also required to fulfill one of the following requirements:
• Valid Gate Score
• CS IR/UGC/NBHM / DBT / DST Inspire Award or Fellowship.
• Minimum of 2 years of professional work experience, for Sponsored (SW) / SelfFinanced (SF) /Institute Staff (IS) category.
• Minimum 6 months project work experience in IIT Bombay, for Project Staff (PS) category.
Requirements for Teaching Assistantship (TAship)/ Research Assistantship (RAship): Candidates with Master’s Degree in Engineering / Technology are eligible for TAship/RAship. Candidates without Master’s Degree in Engineering/ Technology require either a valid GATE score or CSIR/UGC/NBHM/DBT/DST Inspire fellowship to be considered for the same. In addition to the general eligibility criteria, the applicant must satisfy the eligibility criteria specified for the respective departments/centres/ schools/ interdisciplinary groups.
Admission for IIT B.Tech. degree holders Candidate having an IIT B.Tech. Degree and having a CGPA/CPI score of 8.00 and above are exempted from requirement of GATE qualification. They will be admitted to Ph.D. Programme under TA/RA positions through written test /interview.
