IISC Bangalore offers PhD Progams in the following areas of research:-
Biochemistry, Molecular Reproduction, Development and Genetics, Ecological Sciences, Microbiology & Cell Biology, Molecular Biophysics, Neuroscience, Inorganic & Physical Chemistry, Materials Research.
PhD in IISC Eligibility:-The following listed candidates are eligible to apply for IISC Phd programmes
(a) Holders of Master’s degree or its equivalent in any branch of Science/ Mathematics/ Statistics/Computer Applications/ Pharmacy/ Veterinary Science/ Agriculture/ Humanities.
(b) Holders of Master’s degree or its equivalent in Engineering/Technology/ Architecture.
(c) Holders of Bachelor’s degree or its equivalent in Engineering/Technology/ Medicine/ Architecture/ Biotechnology/ Pharmacy/ Veterinary Science/ Agriculture.
(d) Bachelor’s degree holders in Physics/ Chemistry/ Mathematics/ Statistics/ Computer Science /Electronics followed by qualifications obtained through examinations conducted by professional societies recognised by UPSC/AICTE as being equivalent for Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
(e) Holders of MBA or its equivalent subsequent to BE/B Tech, for admission to the department of Management Studies only.
Selection: The selection of candidates for admission to research programs is by an interview to be held at the Indian Institute of Science.
Candidates who opt for Ph.D Programme in the Science Faculty should possess valid Certificates (as on 1st August 2013) in one of the national entrance tests such as GATE / CSIR-UGC NET for JRF / UGC NET for JRF/ DBT-JRF/ ICMR-JRF/ JEST / NBHM / IISc Entrance Test-2013
PhD in IISc Management:-
Eligibility:- ME/ M Tech or equivalent degree or MBA or equivalent PGDBM after BE / B Tech or equivalent degree/ Master's degree in Economics, Social Work, Psychology, Mathematics, Statistics or Operations Research. Outstanding BE/BTech students will also be considered for direct admission to PhD.
