Selection Procedure:- Selection through Entrance Test and/or Interview.
PhD in IIT Delhi:-
Ph.D - Full Time
Minimum Eligibility: Masters degree in Engineering/Technology or Masters degree in Science/Humanities or equivalent in relevant discipline with CGPA 6.75 on 10 point scale or 60% marks in aggregate for general category. Full-time students who do not possess M.Tech or equivalent degree are required to have a valid GATE Score (300 for GE & 200 for SC/ST) OR UGC/CSIR/ICAR fellowship examination for Sciences/ Humanities and Social Sciences disciplines. OR B.Tech. or equivalent with CGPA of 7.5 on 10 point scale or 70% aggregate marks and qualified GATE or UGC/CSIR/ICAR fellowship examination.
For Biomedical Engg., candidates having M.B.B.S. with 60% marks or more are eligiible provided they have qualified ICMR. The Candidates having Postgraduate degree of Doctor of Medicine (MD)/Master in Surgery (MS) with 60% marks or more after MBBS will also be eligible for admission to Ph.D. programme in CBME.
Selection basis: Written test and/or interview
Degree: Ph.D Part Time:-
Minimum Eligibility: Same as for Ph.D. full time and minimum 2 years experience (this experience to be calculated as on the first day of the semester to which admission is sought -thus, for admissions in July, the experience is to be calculated as of 1 Aug and for admissions in December, the experience is to be calculated as of 1 Jan of the next year) and No Objection Certificate from employer (as per Note 8).

Eligibility Qualification:- Ph.D. : M.Tech./M.E./M.Sc.(Engg.) degree in the respective or allied area. The candidates with Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Technology or Master’s degree in Sciences in an allied area with exceptional academic record and possessing a valid GATE score may also apply. For Ph.D. in BSBE, candidates with MBBS, B.Pharma or M. Pharma Degree may also apply. Candidates with Master’s degree in Management may apply for Ph.D. in Industrial and Management Engineering (IME).
Phd in IIT Kharagpur:-
IIT kharagpur offers in all disciplines of Engineering & Technology, Science, Architecture & Regional Planning, Humanities & Social Sciences, Law (Intellectual Property Rights, Corporate Law, and Environment Law) and Management.
ELIGIBILITY:-
All candidates seeking admission to the Ph.D. programme shall have to possess requisite marks/grades in qualifying examination as indicated below:
1. 60% marks (or equivalent grade point average) in the qualifying examination in Engineering/ Science/Commerce/Management or
2. 55% in Humanities or Social Sciences (or equivalent grade point average).
PhD in IIT Roorkee

ADMISSION ELIGIBILITY:-
1. An applicant belonging to the above admission categories should possess the following qualifications in appropriate areas to be eligible to apply for admission for the Ph.D. programme of the Institute.
a) Masters degree in Engineering/ Technology/ Architecture/ Urban & Rural Planning / Pharmacy / Computer Applications of 3 years duration after graduation in respective discipline or equivalent with a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 6.00 on a 10 point scale or equivalent as determined by the Institute wherever letter grades are awarded; or 60% marks in aggregate (of all the years/semesters) where marks are awarded.
OR
b) Masters degree in Sciences/Humanities & Social Sciences/ Management in respective discipline or equivalent with a valid NET or valid GATE or valid GPAT score and minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 6.00 on a 10 point scale or equivalent as determined by the Institute where letter grades are awarded; or 60% marks where marks are awarded.
OR
c) B.Tech. / B.Arch. degree or equivalent in respective discipline with excellent academic record (with a minimum CGPA of 7.0 on a 10 point scale or equivalent or 70% marks) and in possession of a valid GATE score.
2. The admission eligibility requirements may be relaxed to 5.5 on a 10 point scale or equivalent, or to 55% marks to the following categories:
a. SC/ST candidates with Master’s degree.
b. Any category of PD (Persons with disabilities) Candidate holding B.Tech. degree or equivalent degree.
c. Academic staff of the Institute who has an experience of more than 5 years.
3. Eligibility for Part-time Ph.D.
a) The applicant possesses the minimum entry qualifications for the degree as given in admission eligibility point 1;
b) The applicant proves that his official duties permit him to devote sufficient time to research;
c) He / She will be required to reside at the Institute for a period of not less than 6 months during his/her registration for the degree. (This condition of minimum residence period will be automatically waived for candidates who are working in Roorkee or in Organizations / institutions located within a distance of 100 km from the Institute).
d) The facility of part time registration will also be available to all employees of the IIT Roorkee or candidates working in organizations having MoU with IITR or organizations approved by IIT Roorkee as Research Centres. Such applicants are exempted from the requirement of having valid GATE/NET/GPAT.
e) The applicants must have been in continuous service with the sponsoring organization for at least two years at the time of submitting the application form for admission.
f) The candidates working in Institute/University awarding Ph.D. degree itself are not eligible for admission as part-time candidate.
4. Employee seeking admission to the Ph.D. programme with minimum of two years service in an organization or confirmed regular employee may obtain and submit ‘No Objection Certificate’ from the employer to the effect that the duties allotted by the employer will allow the required time for this pursuit.

The applications of foreign nationals may be considered without a personal interview / test Based on the academic record and the performance of the candidates in the interview and/or test, the Departmental Selection Committee will recommend to the Chairman, Senate the names of candidates found suitable for admission to the Ph.D. programme.
PhD in IIT Gadhinagar:-
Ph.D Programs in IIT Gandhinagar:- Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Civil Engineering, Cognitive Sciences, Economics, Electrical Engineering, English, Mathematics, Mechanical Engineering, Philosophy, Physics, Sociology
Minimum Eligibility Criteria:-
1. At least 55% marks in MA/MSc/B.Tech /M.Tech or equivalent degree in appropriate branches.Candidates belonging to SC/ST categories would be eligible for relaxations, as per norms, in the selection criteria. The eligibility criteria is minimum and the departments may use higher cut off levels for short listing.
2. Candidate must have qualified GATE/CSIR-UGC/NET-UGC in order to avail financial support.
3. B.Tech graduates from the IITs with CGPA score of 8.0 or above (on scale of 10) would also be entitled to the assistantship without having to appear in GATE.
