The Government of Punjab conducts Punjab Teachers Eligibility Test (PSTET) for the candidates aspiring to become teachers in primary (class I -V) and upper primary (VI-VIII) schools in the state of Punjab. Do not be confused if the exam is referred to as PSTET by some and Punjab TET by others they are just names for the same exam.
On the basis of this test candidates are recruited for the
- Post of primary teachers- (Class 1 to 05)
- Post of secondary teachers- (Class 6 to 8)
in government as well as some privately managed schools.
PSTET Eligibility Criteria:-
Minimum Qualifications for Classes I-V:-
Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in final 2–year Diploma inElementary Education (or its equivalent).
OR
Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 45% marks and passed or appearing in final 2–year Diploma inElementary Education (or its equivalent), in accordance with the NCTE (Recognition Norms and Procedure),Regulations 2002.
OR
Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in final 4–year Bachelor ofElementary Education (B.El.Ed.).
OR
Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in final 2–year Diploma inEducation (Special Education).
Minimum Qualifications for Classes VI-VIII:-
B.A. /B.Sc and passed or appearing in final 2–year Diploma in Elementary Education (or its equivalent)OR
B.A. /B.Sc. with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in 1–year Bachelor in Education (B.Ed)*
OR
B.A. /B.Sc. with at least 45% marks & passed or appearing in 1–year Bachelor in Education (B.Ed)*, in accordancewith the NCTE (Recognition Norms & Procedure) Regulations issued from time to time in this regard.
OR
Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in final 4–year Bachelor in
Elementary Education (B.El.Ed.)
OR

Punjab TET Syllabus
Punjab TET Exam 2014 Pattern:-
All questions in PSTET test will be Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs), each carrying one mark, with four alternatives out of which one answer will be correct. There will be no negative marking.
There will be two papers of PSTET.
(i) Paper I will be for a person who intents to be a teacher for classes I to V.
(ii) Paper II will be for a person who intents to be a teacher for classes VI to VIII.
Paper I (for classes I to V); No. of MCQs 150
Structure and Content (All Compulsory)- 150 Marks (Total)
(i) Child Development and Pedagogy - 30 MCQs - 30 Marks
(ii) Language I - 30 MCQs - 30 Marks
(iii) Language II - 30 MCQs - 30 Marks
(iv) Mathematics - 30 MCQs - 30 Marks
(v) Environmental Studies- 30 MCQs - 30 Marks
Total 150 MCQ - 150 Marks
Paper II (for classes VI to VIII): No. of MCQs 150
Structure and Content:
(i) Child Development & Pedagogy (compulsory) - 30MCQs - 30Marks
(ii) Language-I (compulsory)- 30MCQs - 30Marks
(iii) Language-II (compulsory)- 30 MCQs - 30Marks
(iv) (a) For Mathematics and Science teacher: Mathematics and Science- 60 MCQs - 60Marks
(b) For Social Studies/Social Science Teacher: Social Science - 60 MCQs - 60Marks
(c) For any other teacher - either (a) or (b)
Qualifying marks:-
A person who scores 60% or more in the PSTET exam will be considered as PSTET pass. The government has decided to give concession of 5% in PSTET to the persons belonging to SC/ST, OBC, differently abled persons, etc, in accordance with their extant reservation policy.
Application Form and registration:-
- You are required to apply online on www.tetpunjab.com.
- After completing the registration process you are required to download bank challan.
- After 48 hours of making payment fee status will be updated and you can proceed to priniting the confirmation page.
- You are required to paste recent passport sized photograph and keep a photocopy of the page.
- The confirmation page must be sent in an envelope sized (12x9) with address slip pasted on the same superscribing "Application for PSTET."
- This needs to be dispatched by ordinary post to the following address.
