How to fill UPSC online application form?

UPSC application form is the first definitive step for candidates wishing to apply for UPSC exams. For the same you are required to log on to http://www.upsconline.nic.in/ to access the home page for online application. You can apply for a particular UPSC examination only after it has been notified by the Governing authority. Brief information regarding UPSC recruitment is published  in various newspapers. General guideline for candidates before applying for UPSC Exams

1.First read through the general instructions that are available on UPSC website http://www.upsconline.nic.in/ before proceeding for online application.
2.At the time of application it is necessary that have you all documents in hand. Apart from that you are also required to have a transaction ID obtained on payment of fees and softcopies of photograph and signature.
3.Please pay the fee amount prescribed as mentioned in notification and retain transaction ID.
4.Photographs and signatures need to be scanned in either JPEG or PNG format.
5.The quality of both should be good enough to be identified and accepted.
6.The prescribed pixel size for photograph is 140x110 pixels and for the signature is 110x140 pixels.

General guidelines for candidates while filling UPSC Application form

1.Fill application form carefully in the prescribed format.
2.Type Address and other correspondence details carefully.
3.Star Marked * fields are to be essentially filled.
4.Before completing the Part I of registration check through the form carefully for details.
5.If there are any mistakes you are can click the reset button and type in details again
6.Once Part-I of registration is complete you are required to click Continue option to start Part- II registration. (candidates exempted from fees can directly proceed to part-II).
7.Please note that part I needs to be filled first followed by Part-II.
8.Please note the Self generated registration identity number (RID) obtained on completion of registration.
9.RID confirms the successful submission of application
10. Important: Also note the name of examination, personal details and also RID.

Cases in which you are required to register again

•In case during the process your network connection fails or computer shuts down you are required to register again.
•Blank or Zero registration number obatined after registration  also means that you have to register again.

Cases in which UPSC Application form can be rejected

1.Incomplete applications are deemed for rejection. (Hence Part I and Part II needs to be duly filled).
2.Incomplete entries for star * marked can also lead to rejection.
3.Nonpayment of fee can also lead to rejection of application.
4.Applications without photograph and signature are also deemed for rejection.
5.Applications that are submitted after the stipulated date of registration are deemed for rejection.
